FYI : How to get a 15x10 6.5 backspacing rim to fit
Since I see this question couple times a week and when searching pics are sometimes hard to come by I am going to post up what I just did to get my 15x10 rims with 6.5 backspacing to fit.
Specs:
Summit star 15x10 6.5 backspacing rim
Mickey 275/60/15 tire.
First pic is what needs to be cut and or hammered.
Bump stop and the outlined area needs to come out but be careful to only cut the first layer.

Second pic is of the bump stop area removed.Drill out any spot welds before cutting. Note the layers in the pics,I took the bump stop out in pieces but the whole outlined area has to come out. I also had to lightly hammer the second layer back to get the tire to have a 1/2 clearance. I also will be welding this up and undercoating it to give the car somewhat stock appearence in the wheel well.

3rd pic is of the flange that connects the bump stop area to the front of the wheel well. I cut about an 1-1/2 all the way down to get the clearance I desired.

4 pic is the front of the wheel well. You have to choices either hammer the living crap out of it or cut and hammer the remainder. i had a little rot starting at the bottom of mine so I decide to cut it out and weld a piece back in after and hammer the rest into place.

Car with the wheels installed. Also note with the 6.5 backspacing that the rim and tire is completely tucked into the wheel well.

Looks nice! I wonder if you woud've gotten say, a 6" backspace wheel instead of 6.5"...do you think all the mods you did would still be needed? Just curious because it almost looks like you have a 1/2" to spare and it wouls still fit inside the wheel well.

Still a possibility to do the mods or at the least the bump stop. And a 6" bs would work, finding a rim with it is a different story. I tried to stay on a budget out $1000 for rims and tires so the summit or jegs rims are a good deal but they dont carry 6" bs just 6.5. But with the 6.5 you have the option of running a much larger tire or slick so thats what I went for if future plans call for a larger tire.

Everything looks looks very similar to what I did, especially up front, to fit my 17" x 11", 7" bs Snypers. Except for where you cut out around the bumpstop. You cut out quite a bit more than even I did. Here is what I cut out up there.

Yeah i was looking to run a set of Weld alumastars on the back of my 90 camaro and they don't over .5 inch incerments in backspacing so the best i could do is a 6 inch backspace, also for that rim i was looking at a 275 60r 15 or a 295 55r15 what would be the difference between those two tiers are the 295's wider or taller?
