fender peels my nitto's like a potato

Every decent bump I hit my tire rubs my fender lip. I'm running 2 inch spacers in rear. Tried 1.5 then it rubbed inner. Running z06 motorsport 18by 10.5 in rear with 305 35's

Cut out the wheel well and lose the spacers. Or you could roll the fender lip depending on how much the tires stick out.

I would stay with the 1.5"s & a massage the inner fender for tire clearance.

Well *I* wouldn't run spacers at all, but for you, that will depend on how much inner fender massaging your willing to do. I did a good deal of massaging to fit my 315s with no spacers.

The price you pay for running way oversized tires on a car NOT designed for them. So pay the price...body work or new tires.

I agree, i would much rather massage the inner fender well where nobody will see it rather than roll the lip and risk not doing it properly or having it done and you not liking it. Much harder to fix lip on the fender than to cut out a new piece of metal and re-weld it in. My

Re: fender peels my nitto's like a potato

10.5 is pushing it in the rear without mods to the body. It might take the right combo of spacer, but you don't wanna keep chewing up tires like that. Is the car lowered? If you don't recenter the rearend with an adj panhard one wheel will stick out further than other causing it to rub. Something to think about

Re: fender peels my nitto's like a potato

when running that wide in the rear, you have to take out the bump stops and some of the inner fender.

No. Just careful wheel placement and the BFH mod on the inner front of the fender.

0078red1.... the area from about 3 o clock here. I've got it all reprimed, painted, and undercoated here, but you can can probably see it. Compare it to the my pic farther down showing the lower control arm and you'll see.

No you don't. You just need to make sure the axle is centered (Adj panhard) and address the fender lip. Cutting the bump stops out makes more sense for big drag slicks on 15 inch wheels. An 18 is not going to have the sidewall flex and "Balloon"ness to it that cutting out the bump stops helps.

Thing is my car is not low enough in the back to need rolled lips, but when the time comes it's definitely something I need to address. But as the car goes lower, you get MORE bump stop clearance to the tire sidewall.

I saw where one guy said he snipped cuts into the inner fender at the body seam and use some pliers to bend the tabs up. This would work, but I'd worry about rust so it'd need to be undercoated and protected.

Also, to the OP did you ever figure it out? That was like 3 years ago so I'm curious as to how you handled it. I know there are companies that rent fender rollers out. You have to pay a full deposit, but after it gets back to them it ends up costing something like $70?

I dont know how well that would work on our fenders... does anyone know?

I got my fenders rolled by some guy I found on a Nissan z car board. It was 70 bucks and he did a good job.

Yup; and be aware, the paint WILL crack. There is no way to avoid it. The pros often heat up the area before rolling; which he did... but it didn't help.

Buy some stiffer shocks/struts, and also perhaps not as soft of a tire.

Get a set of fiberglass wide body rear fenders........ can then cut away stock inner and lip all you need.

Re: fender peels my nitto's like a potato

I'm going to have the rear fender lips rolled on my 80 Z so I can fit larger tires in there. Probably the IROC too when I get to it. My dad had this done on his 70 Cuda and it did no damage or crack the paint at all.

the tool to roll the the fender. 150 bucks.that's only after you do the inner fender mods and not with just a hammer. Unless you're going to call your car shake rattle and roll like some .don't be that guy with a ******.

You can rent it for $50. The inner fender mods are pretty mild. I already did them and all I needed was a hammer. I could probably tuck the 315's in another quarter inch but it's not necessary and I like having the breathing room. It's a LOT eaiser to fit wide 17's and 18's than wide 15's with big balloon drag tires on them. There's a LOT less sidewall to worry about.
