Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
Looking outside with the 3 feet of snow and -30C temps I don't anticipate it being rolled out anytime soon for more pictures.
It looks amazing in person, the crappy iphone pictures can't do it justice.
I still have alot of work left and parts to order to get it to where I want it next year. As I progress and can get it outside I'll have the pics.

You said it is sticking out the passenger side. Do you have an adjustable panhard bar? If it is lowered that should be a no-brainer...

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
I do have an adjustable panhard bar but its not helping at the moment.
The driver side wheel is in the exact spot I want it but the pass side is sticking out about an inch.
When I bought it it had 3" studs on there so I thought I would be safe running a 1/2" spacer that also converted the centerbore from ~70m to the 67.1mm on the 5th gen wheel.
I will have to get that spacer cut down now or run a 5/16" one and replace the studs. That will let me pull it more into the driver side to center the diff under there.

Correct, I meant to say I would get both spacers cut down equally to remain centered, thats the only way its going to buy me the inch or so I need to tuck both tires.
I shoulda got the garage heated this year... gettin antsy to finish this up.

Why don't you just center the axle then roll/flare the fenders until you're satisfied?

NOT.....take them off!!! I hate them! I thought 4th gen rims looked bad on 3rd gens. But 5th gen rims look even worse!
That's why there called 5th gen....they belong on a 5th gen.
You put all that $$ into the car and can't find anything better to put on??
Seriously, those look really stupid.
18" rims are the largest rim that belong on a 3rd gen.
Stupid stupid stupid!
Yeah that's my opinion. If your going to do it....do it right. And take those rims off too!

My post certainly was necessary. Why stop there, put some 33" mud tires on it, you can fit in with some of those hicks down south. How about we grab a 1st or 2nd gen and toss those things on it? How about a pick up truck?
See my car?? Those are 17"s. They look simple awesome! If I didn't lower my car 2" and the roads here weren't so bad here, I might have gone 18"s

It just does not flow with the car. Thats why I don't like 4th gen rims....to flat of a rim to have on a 3rd gen. It need's a rim with a dish, and an offset.

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
I'm not out to offend any one, any one can put anything they want on a car.
They can take a 3rd gen body and put it on a K5 4x4 blazer frame and have some fun!
You can live in the hood of any city in the world and stick 20 inch plus rims on any car you want.
Do you think it looks good??....well that's up to you.
Do I think it looks good??....well that's up to me.
I love my 3rd gen, i have had it totally apart, and back together, it took me 2 years to get it how it is now. 3 Stage Candy apple red, shaved handles, and antenna, motor work, rear end, rims, lowered, suspension, weatherstripping, seals, yadda yadda yadda. I have won many trophies over the last 2 years I have had it out.
There are still some that don't like it and some that love it. Do I really care what people think, sure in a sense I do. But what matters most is what I think, because I busted my *** making it what it is. I had a part in everything done to my car.
Do what you want, have fun with it.
I just do not like a big rim on a 3rd gen. I do not like a 4th gen rim on a 3rd gen...its like buying steel rims and adding a hub cap to it. It looks funny.
But what looks funny to me might look good to others.

Fenders are rolled before I painted it. I can't get side pics from the garage as I can't get the whole profile, maybe I'll get my buddy to come over with the wide angle lens to snap some pics, its like -30C freezin out tho with 3ft of snow in the driveway.
Not sure where the dude with the TT's (sorry but the last choice of wheel I would put on my car) was going with his rage post comments, all over the map about the "hood" and bogger wheels.
These brakes need a big wheel dude . Also, wheels are preference for sure. I wanted to try something different and 17s are way too small, even 18s nowadays are old news and there was nothing I liked in 19s (2LT 5th gen wheels were hard to find) and had the advantage of air ride gettin the stance dead on so went with 20s. I looked at a ton of wheels and this is what I decided initially on. There's alot of positive feedback so I guess it wasn't too bad
Worst case I can take them off and drop 5k on so custom wheels to appease the haters :X Coulda used the iforged units off my old 800 rwp z06
Pics do not do it justice btw.

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
I dont know what all the fuss is about, the wheels look good with the silver paint, its all about how it fits together. The trouble with most BIG CHEAP rims is that they are too narrow,on my gallery, I have 17x 12 rims on my THIRD GEN and they fit and fill out the fenders,I also have the 5th gen with 24x15 and they look cool too. (page 30 -32 approx ). Good building !!!!

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
How much did that paint job n body work on shaved handles n antenna? I'm looking into doing the exact same for smooth sharp look on car, but can't do it myself because I'm in school in college and working as well. PS I plan to use my college refund to pile up my saving for this as well.
I'm going to guess if you did it the way I did it, it will cost about $10k. If I got in a wreck, that's about what the receipt would read.
I took everything off, made sure everything was done right.
Door poppers installed with the better springs. (heavy 3rd gen doors)
It was my project and had a lot of fun doing it. Of coarse that's new weather stripping for the entire car including doors, t tops, rear hatch, the door felts inner and outers. I also had sub-frame connectors welded in because I lowered it 2".
It could be cheaper if you just sanded it and painted it, but I went hog wild and took all the ground effects off and all lol! I have over 100 pics of the process if you want to see.
it does give it a nice clean look though that's for sure!

the wheels look too close to the fenders for me.id like to see pics without the wheel spacers.[or the mininum spacer that will let the wheels bolt on].just my opinion.

I'm not racist...that's why I would NEVER think about putting a big rim like that on a 3rd gen! It's like hes teasing the people who put 24's on 3rd gens.

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
The rims are alil big but I actually like the idea of people putting newer parts/ wheels on their 80-90s camaro/trans-am. If everyone wanted to be old school and boring they would put rally wheels or torq thrust rims on their car. This car is gonna completly stand out in a good way
But do a google search for a 3rd gen with big rims. There are like zero.
Why...because they don't look good on big rims, that's why.
Yes that's my opinion.
I like the stock shoelace Trans Am rims, I like the Iroc rims larger, say 18's in a chrome style, I like the TTII's and there are a few really high end rims out there that your going to pay for.
Whatever that's my opinion. Make fun of my TTII's that's fine with me.
I won more trophies over the last 2 years with my car sense I got it all done.
So i must be doing something right.
And I won best 3rd gen 2 years running at the MiFbody meet. (98% all Fbody's) Here in Michigan. June 4th if ppl wanna stop out. I'll be there!

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
mine is dropped pretty good but no air ride, im assuming those will fit with the 3rd gen rear end? i thought about doing that at one time since i have 2nd gen fenders, 3rd gen car, 4th gen motor and seats.... i need a 5th gen part lol
ive seen a lot of affordable stock 5th gen rims thought it would be neat, i think it looks great on your car, i liked the motor cover you had on it in the other thread

Re: 3rd gen camaro with 5th gen wheels - pics
depends what tire size you go.......like i went with 255 35 in fronts and only needed minor mods on the inner lower fender that is all .......i got mine in kemah Texas 2 mile north of Galveston.....for 500 dollars on craigslist they have here in Dallas but they wouldn't go down more than 700 ......the guy over there painted them n didn't use enough hardener so you can imagine how hard it was to sand them back down with out scratching the surface.......
