5 inch backspace with slicks

Car: 1987 IROC Z/28
Engine: 5.0L TPI. Custom Tune
Transmission: 5 Speed/ Pro5.0 short /hurst stick
Axle/Gears: 1LE 10 bolt Rear/T2R 3.45 PBR/disc
5 inch backspace with slicks

Guys,
It's time to go drag racing and I need some slicks. Found these on Craigslist in Atlanta and they are 2 miles from me. it seems that 5 inches of backspace is about right and these might fit. is 26x10 the right size for some friday night drags at Atlanta Motor Speedway or Atlanta dragway?

I have adjustable rear springs so I can jack them up to get enough clearance.

what say you? I was thinking of offering him $250 cash money.

5" BS 10" wheel will stick out from the fenders.

its an 8.5" wheel apparently, i think that will be pretty good as far as fitment.

Hmmm, I clearly don't know the size convention for drag slicks.

Agreed, that fitment sounds good on a 8.5" wheel.

Yup, got it. I read the 26x10 dimension in the OP's message as the required wheel width. I guess that is the tread width. I didn't bother to read the ad.

6.0 - 6.5" should work well. I went with around 6 3/8".

the diameter of the wheel has great imortance here. A 18 or 19" wheel for instance will almost fit 6.5" of bs without anymore than a few taps with a hammer. a 15 or 16 is a different story all together and 6.5" of bs will need a lot more work to fit.

a 15x10 with 6" of bs is a pretty good fit, but its not a common offset

Phil you are on your game as usual.

Good point. It also depends on ride height. At my ride height with 19's the bump stop actually rides inside the wheel. Not the case with smaller wheels or a much higher ride height. I don't recall, there may be other things in the way as well. I can grab a picture of my empty wheel well tonight.
