Help! Rear Wheel Bearing adjustment procedure?

Hi All-

Hopefully I can get this answered real soon....
Was planning on replacing the rear disc brake caliper and thought I'd might as well try to replace (and adjust) the rear wheel bearings.

I cannot find anything that specifically addresses "Wheel Bearing Adjustment" procedures... How is an adjustment done?

Re: Help! Rear Wheel Bearing adjustment procedure?

There is no adjustment for the rear wheel bearings. They are press fit inside the rear axle tubes. If they are bad and you NEED to change them you have to open up the rear diff, remove the lock screw and the piece it holds, push each axle in and slide off the C clips, then pull the axles, now remove the axle seals and you will need to rent a slide hammer with the rear axle bearing pieces and slide hammer them out, and then the new ones will have to be pressed (or rather hammered in) with a seal install tool, then install seals and re assemble. Sorry breif description, if you want to actually do this I am sure there is a tech article, but if the bearings aren't bad (which if they are most likely all bearings in the rear are bad and it needs a rebuild) you probably don't want to mess with them...
