Re: Well I finally did it, new tires and wheels!
Pic, I got them mounted and balanced. I'm still waiting on Pep boys for the lugs. They are 17x9.5's from CTW Motorsports! The offsets are Thirdgen specific. I bought them from Paul Huryk who is a member here and a Thirdgen owner and enthusiast. It's very nice that someone makes high end upgrades for our cars. They are super lite (20lbs) and racing quality. Even though they look great that's not why I bought them. I'm getting tired of being blown off the autocross course by Muskrats with bigger better tires. I talked with a locally famous racer who raced a Thirdgen Camaro about suspension upgrades to make my car competitive, and he told me that the wheels and tires are critical. He also told me not to waste my money on parts until I was putting 10 inches of rubber on the ground. Thanks to Brother Paul I have that covered. These are about the biggest rollers that will fit without bodywork or mods. I will keep my stock IROC's for street duty and use these for racing. At least that's the plan for now...
Thanks again Paul for all the help, advice and the wheels!

Seriously, hope you pick up some good time on the autocross course with the wider wheels and tires.
And if you would give everyone some feedback on how a simple upgrade from a 245-50-16 tire to a 275-40-17 sized one can improve a car's handling - it would give assistance to anyone looking to upgrade, regardless of what brand of wheel one may purchase.

Re: Well I finally did it, new tires and wheels!
Hey Paul, Thanks again for updating our cars! I will post pics when my lugs get here. I was thinking of doing a before and after thread on the Racing/Autocross page here. I've been kicking this idea around for a while and my car was not getting any faster on the course. I realized that I was the only one in my class still running stock wheels (16" IROC's). Every other competitor is running a 17 or better. I raced on Sunday at North Hills Sports car club, I came in 5th, Out of 5 cars in my class! This must change!
It really is nice to see new good parts designed for our cars. I found CTW in Camaro performers magazine. The add was like 1"x1" and was the only thing in the whole rag that had anything to do with the Thirdgen cars!
Anyhow, a full write up and wheel/tire review will be done once I get racing, the BFG Comp-2's look impressive! Hopefully next year they will make the Rival in that size.

Excellent!
D-Force makes them for BMW and Miata and 5Zigen makes a ripoff of D-Force for Japanese imports. There are a few specific applications for the Subarus and Mustang under different brand names, like mine.

Zach, They fit perfectly. They look great! The street handling is GREATLY improved. You really can't drive on the street as hard as the track, you know, without getting arrested that is... But the modern rubber and improved track makes it hard to spin them. I never got it to squeal on a corner or off/on ramp. With the 16x8's it was easy to spin 'em all the way through 3rd. Now she just bangs your head much harder into the headrest! Paul I can't thank you enough, This is exactly what my car needed, forget about chasing Mustangs, I'm aiming for those import boys!! Ok, time for the ****...
Oppps, forgot the pics...

Again, Agreed. Thirdgens get no respect right now. But with manufacturers finally recognizing us. There is hope!

I'm sure as the cars become more popular again, other manufacturers will be putting out discontinued and new parts.

Re: Well I finally did it, new tires and wheels!
Paul, we need more good stuff. Like your wheels. Not F-ing bling. Those chrome Chinese IROC wheels make me avert my eyes. Your wheels are the only ones I found that were displayed on a RACECAR! E-gads! Pro kit racing quality for the street! It makes me want to go hunting, imports that is... And three weeks waiting for my next race! With these bad boys hiding in my garage! It's absolutely killing me. Sorry for gushing, but you all need to experience this... It's awesome, It's also about time. Real Quality parts for a Thirdgen! Like I said, It's about damn time, real parts for our cars, and nothing is more important than good wheels and tires.
Re: Well I finally did it, new tires and wheels!
For the money those tires are amazing, I run 275/40r17 and 245/45r17 on a 4000# whale as my daily driver and in 2 seasons still show little wear. And if u saw how it gets driven you would laugh. Good choice man....
Is it weird that my T.A and my daily have the same tiresize? Lol...

Yeah I had the original Sport BFG's on my 88 back in 94 and I liked them a lot. They felt great compared to the worn out Gatorbacks.
