Looking into 16 inch wheels from a GTA or GNX
I am looking to upgrade from my stock 15 x 7 wheels to 16inch wheels from a GTA. But looking also at a pair of GNX wheels which are identical minus the hub cap.
Are there other (size) differences between the GTA wheels compared tot he GNX wheels?
Is one more favorable than the other?
Thanks
Chuck

Chuck,
Not sure if you know this, but 245-50-16 tires to fit those wheels are becoming scarce at this point - there are only 3 high performance street tires left in that size (down from 10 about 2 years ago).
Anyway, the GTA has specific offset wheels for the front and rear, while the GNX uses the same offset wheels on all 4 corners (TA fronts I believe).

Thanks Paul-
Yeah, it looks like the 16" is definetly on its way out as far as performance options are concerned. I might have to consider some 17" wheels at some point, however for a stock looking GTA/BMW look they are priced rather stratospherically.

If the price of GTA look alikes is too high, why don't you look into some other wheel designs? Keep in mind that that type of mesh style wheel really limits what brake systems you can run. May not be an issue right now, but if you want to upgrade, some wheels will be useless.

Good point on the brakes. Having just replaced my stock brakes for a marginal increase in performance with Stillen rotors and pads, I have little appetite right now to spend serious bank on some brakes worthy of 17" wheels.
I imagine that my stock delco/moraine 10.5 discs is a little insufficient for some 17"+ wheel/tire combo... let alone the ol' 16" original GTA wheels/tires should already give my stock brakes a run for the money.
I think I'll go with the 16" GTA's and work with BFG Sport Com 2's until I re-do my brakes.

tire options have dwindled for 16s. 17s were hot in the early 90s. Go for 18s from gbodyparts
