Threw on a set of OG San wheels on my Z28. I had to have these wheels because I love the lip in the rear and the fact that they are a 17 x 10. I got in touch with Axis Wheels and they made it happen. I'm stoked.
The set up up front is a 17x9 +10 with a 1in spacer and rear is 17x10 +15 with an 8mm spacer.

Those look excellent, but aren't they 5x120?Originally Posted by Downshift

Ooh, I like them! Look great! Is is a one piece wheel?

Thanks! Yes, the bolt pattern is 5x120. 17" is the diameter, 9" is the width and +10 is the offset on the front. Same break down on the rear being 17" diameter, 10" width and +15 offset.Originally Posted by 87350IROC

I'm curious to know why you chose 235/255 tires instead of something wider?

the lace pattern on many similar ones are not exact with different centers just wow

Those are the measurements that we used on the test fit as shown in the images. I will probably end up going with 245/45/17 in the front and 255/50/17 in the rear. I dont want to go too wide because I like that slightly rounded donut look at the edge of the side wall where the thread begins. Nothing streched just slightly rounded.Originally Posted by paul_huryk

A 245-45 and a 265-40 are the perfect size combo for your wheels and desired look. Problem is that the 265 is not made in as many patterns as the 245.

Thanks for the info paul_huryk. I will look into the 265-40s.Originally Posted by paul_huryk

I emailed Axis today to see about having some built and to also make the outer hub fit the factory center caps. Hopefully we can work something out. I will keep everyone posted.

Next set of wheels ^
Is it possible to order with custom offset to avoid spacers?
Is it possible to run 275 in front with 295 in rear?
The price seems fair too

If I don't get an email response from them by Tuesday, I will make some phone calls and see if they can help us out. Lets see if they can build them and what kind of pricing they are talking about. And yes, if we could do 18" or 19" even and proper offsets to avoid spacers and wider tires too would be awesome. I do want to emphasize the center hub diameter to utilize our factory center caps though and also want to find out if they can be made without the bolts at the outer ring of the wheel to the barrel area.

I would definitely buy a set of 18s... keep us posted!
Once I find out if they can do it and how much the first set would set me back I will mention a small production build of them to see how feasible it is. The older Nissan Z car guys would jump all over these also.

18x10 and 18x9 would be perfect for me....
I planned on using that as a bargaining chip when we get to talking about price but I cannot commit to anything. You know how people are. Everyone says hell yeah I am in 100% but when it comes to money time, everyone has an excuse. It's just what happens.

If Axis can be convinced to build a set in 5x4 3/4 in the right offset, they will be very popular with the Grand National crowd.
I just spoke with Derek at Axis Wheels. Unfortunately, the 17" is the only thing they will offer out of the box. Also, no modified outer hub for factory center caps and the rivets are pressed in so there is no color change available from black to gold. He suggested I contact so custom wheel builders to meet my specifications. Sorry guys, but what we see is what they have to offer. I am still considering buying the 17" wheels as they still look a lot better on the car than the factory 16". As far as the center caps, I can have them painted black to look more stock. Anyone want to get in on a group purchase?
I'd consider getting in on a group purchase. Someone needs to put a set of these on a GTA with 275's or wider on the rear!

If you can find a dealer that still has them you can simply superglue the Firebird wheel center emblems to the wheel centers.Originally Posted by akanitro

Anyone want to get in on a group purchase? A simple sign shop that does vinyl stickers can reproduce the original WS6 emblems for a couple dollars and then just paint the silver caps flat black before putting the stickers on the face of the cap. I am definitely ordering a set for the GTA. For the money, its still a great deal on a nostalgic looking set of wheels. I am going to place an order at the first of the month. Let me know who else wants in and I can talk to Derek at Axis about a deal. Serious people though please. I don't want to commit to a multiple wheel package order that I can't stand behind. PM me if anyone is serious and wants to order a set with me.

Thanks for the compliment. I just picked up the set I'm keeping today ( in graphite) Ill post a picture in a bit. I have to give a shout out "thank you" to Axis wheels and www.cncpics.com for the networking.Originally Posted by onthedownlow

Give the deep dish all around and we have a winner. For some reason, the side view doesnt do it for me. Still something for those wanting a option for larger crosslaces. Now I still doubt 95% of the people who always complained for 17s+ will even buy them.

Is it the lack of a mirror finish? The machined finish isn't doing it for me, but stripping the clear off to fix it would mean repainting the centers and a lot more trouble than it's probably worth.Originally Posted by LSJuan0068

As for people still not buying them, the offset, bolt pattern, and center bore aren't right. I would run hubcentric spacers to correct the offset and center bore and hope that spacing out the wheels keeps you from breaking wheel studs after removing the wheels a few times.
Or you can correct the bolt pattern: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/whee...t-pattern.html

Actually a 275-40-17 is a better/exact fit size for a 17x9 wheel....(stock 4 gens w/17's have 275's on them)....
But with a 9 front and 10 rear to really get that staggered look you can do a 255-45-17 front and a 285-40-17 rear. They both are 25.94 in. tall (stock 3rd gen 16's are 25.7).....and a 285 will fit better on a 10" wheel....
check out the Nitto 555's.... http://www.nittotire.com/Tire/nt555#size
I have Boyd Codington Magnito's 17x8 F with 245-45-17 and 17x10 R 315-35-17....
just my

Nice rims Downshift. Congrats.
I've been looking for bigger replica rims like these for awhile. Thinking of getting 2 17 X 10 for the rear and leaving the front with the 16s.

I always thought our rims bolt pattern were 5 X 120 and not 5 X 120.65. Due to the small variance, .65 mm, which is very small, would the rim not fit on our cars? I found a dealer in Canada who can get these for me and was about to purchase them but want to make sure these would fit. Originally Posted by Roostmeyer
