Alternative to front adapter/spacers

What are the alternatives to wheel adapters on the front I thought their was a thread that talked about aftermarket a-arms or spindles that would extend the hub like a fourth Gen?

There used to be a set of knuckles that moved the spindles up to drop the car but I never heard of ones to alter the track. Of course, there's LOTS of $hit I don't know.

Re: Alternative to front adapter/spacers

Nothing like that exsists. I had custom hubs made to help fit my wheels without spacers, but that was only an extra 5/8 " or so from stock. Cant go much further without creating a disaster.

The other option, spend a few more bucks and by wheels that fit without spacers and have something thats different from everybody else who run corvette wheels

Re: Alternative to front adapter/spacers

The thing is I've already put a wider 4th Gen rear and I have 3 sets of newer vet rim. I like the idea of having two sets of tread one as wide as possible for autocross and another for cruising around town and I'd like to avoid having different offsets on the front and back since many tracks wont allow wheel adapters which is what I'm currently running up front.
With C5 brakes up front I'd have to run at least a different set of 17" rims up front at the track.
I thought I remember an article or something about someone building a unique a arm spindle set up or welding another front suspension to widen the track though maybe I was thinking about a c3 corvette article. Has anyone seen this done on our car?

Re: Alternative to front adapter/spacers

Just run a set of quality billet spacers. They just as safe as bolting to the hub.

Re: Alternative to front adapter/spacers

The difference in track from the 3rd to 4th gens (and C4 Vettes) is about 2" - that is why there is typically a 2" spacer need to run those wheels. The 4th gen rear also features a wider track - which is why a swap allow you to run wheels without spacers on the rear.

As Phil said, there are no kits to do what you are asking - so you will have to run spacers in the front and none in the back to get the Vette wheels on your car.

The only way to avoid spacers is to get wheels that fit without them - CTW Motorsports, Weld, Centerline, and a few other produce direct fit 17" and alrger wheels for the 3rd gens - when using a stock width rearend.

Re: Alternative to front adapter/spacers

I agree with Paul.

spend extra on wheels that fit with no spacer/adapter
or
spend money on good quality adapter

but i look at like this if your going to use spacer/adapter why stick with the corvette wheel its been done waaayyyy too much

get something different that stands out.
