Help me decide on rims!

Well I have been torn between which route to go with rims on my car I Sold my 2000 FRC Corvette for another 3rd gen and wanna make it stick out like my vette did (Pewter lowered on Black deep dished RUFF rims)

Now Im debating between the classic ZR1 17x9.5s (I dont like the 17x11 and how the wheel comes out too far on our cars)

OR between 18x10.5 and 9.5 combo C5 Deep Dish Machined faced wheels.

I can pickup a set of SS/Zr1 wheels with tires for around $400 from a 99SS so they are not heavy replica's, or spend around 1400 on rims/tires for the deep dish.

I feel the ZR1/SS wheels will match the car better.

Comments?

This is my second 87 Z28, the last Iroc-z turned into a mostly drag Big Single Turbo LS setup, TH400/9"/cage etc. (some may remember)

This car is gonna be all suspension then a 4.8L 4l80e single turbo. But for this season basically a stock 305 with all suspension work/wheels.

Here is the car. Completely stock when i picked it up with 96Km (59K miles)

*** Hopefully the pic attaches, my work blocks photobucket.

This winters mods (going through now)

Subframe Connectors
UMI LCA's
UMI Adjustable Panhard
Custom Panhard Relocation bar
Custom TQ arm (making based on the UMI)
KONI shocks/struts (adjustable)
Weight Jacks
4th gen Rear
C5 Z06 Front Brakes (GMPP rotors)
LT1 PBR rear brakes
Stainless Brake lines
Poly Bushings throughout
Tinting the windows

If the time/funds come 3.5 or 4" single exhaust (since it will be a 4.8 78mm turbo)

Re: Help me decide on rims!

Never mind I kept going back and forth and pulled the trigger on the SS/ZR1 rims. Gotta love ebay. 10K miles on them from a 1999 SS, $270 with tires and the rims are MINT.

Re: Help me decide on rims!

in all honesty if you want to be little different then corvette style or zr1 isnt the way to go. theres tons of people that put them on and its getting a little played out. the look is great but when you see 2 or more people at meets with them then its kinda weird, but 270 with tires is a killer deal. luckily the corvette rims i have on mine are the c5 magnesium style and are hard to come by not many people have them. as far as i know theres only 2 people in socal that have them. me and the guy i purchased mine from lol.
if you like them by all means keep them but going that type of rim isnt really being different.

Re: Help me decide on rims!

Ya I figured for the price I will toss them on just to get the car rolling for this year. Then maybe next year go a different route. I needed something to move my car around with C5 brakes on it.

PS good call on the mag rims. I love them I was looking to get a set for my Pewter FRC C5.

My opinion is BOSS 338's are the best looking, other than stock stone

Re: Help me decide on rims!

I really liked the corvette wheels but every meet you go to
You see them... To be different It was either tsw or the wheels I chose

Personally I like the original looks but I decided on something new and different .. Basically either go with some c6s you'll need like 2 inch adapter all way around unless you're running 4th gen rear. Or find a rim that you like and put that beast on lol
