FireHawk Indy 500 Wide Oval or BF Goodridge Comp2

I recently ordered a set of FireHawk Indy 500 Wide Oval tires ((245/50/16)NOT ALOT OF OPTIONS THESE DAYS)) I originally wanted to give the BF Goodridge comp 2 tires a shot but I changed my mind at the last minute, I wanted to see if any of you all have had any experience with these tires? My motor is pretty stock internally. I was needing to replace the Goodyear Gatorbacks it originally came with there OLD and Bald now, but they are a very attractive tire IMO, I read the Firehawks grip better but don't look as good as the BF Goodridge however the BF's don't perform quite as well. Hope I didn't make a bad choice. Any thoughts??

Based on the tread pattern and reviews, the BFG are going to be the better tire for performance use (not all seasons). Not saying the tires you chose are bad, just that if you were to give most a choice of the two, the majority would pick the BFG.

I see, well I wasn't looking for an outright performance tire so I suppose the Firehawk tires will do, Don't get me wrong I'll punch it here and there, and go for a quick blast. Even accept the challenge from some hotshot at a stoplight to put him in his place, however my Bird is more of a joy ride/take my girl out in kinda car for me, not a track demon. Thank You for the input, I needed an outside opinion!

I have Firehawk indy 500 wide ovals on my 91 Z28 and they are a pretty good tire for the money. They grip surprisingly well but as paul_huryk suggested the BFG sport comp II's are probably an overall better performance tire. I debated on the same two for tire choice, I got a super good deal on the Firehawks so I went with those. Either would work just fine for your application.

When I was tire shopping, I found a surprising (to me) number of Corvette owners singing the praises of these tires (Firestones). They seem well reviewed, and I did not encounter any complaints among those running them. I'd be willing to bet you'll be happy with them.

i got wide ovals on my 91 Z..and I'm happy with them...I do know they are worth a crap with any snow on ground...for the sheer simple reason that when I took car in for trans upgrades, the day i went to pick it up it snowed!!..First snow car has seen in over a decade!..Found it very difficult to go so slow...and hated every inch!

I've got them, but they're the last set of 16's I'll run.

I formed the same impression as Paul and went with the BFG Comp2. I'm happy with them & they grip well. A friend has the Firestone Wide Oval on his 4th Gen and likes them. I had a mediocre experience with an older set of Firestone Firehawk's previously years ago when pressing them hard so I decided to try the BFG.

Toyo Proxy 4 would be my 2nd choice, they were the best tire I've had on the RS until the BFGs. The Toyo tires were good for 65,000 miles and very good wet & dry. Wish Nitto555 was still made but I could only find Nitto555 R's.
