Tire and spacer size with 17" sawblades

Good morning all, hope everyone is well!! I am picking up a set of 17" corvette sawblades to day just for fun and something to look different. They will be going on my 91 RS Vert. The car is 100% stock, ride height and all. What size tires are most of the 17" guys running with no interference issues? Also, can someone break down the spacer requirements for this wheel simply? Once I have them all mounted up, I will post a few pics for all to see! Thanks for the input everyone!

Buck

Pretty sure the 84-87 wheels had 38 offset which would require ~1.5" adapter
88-96 wheels were 56mm and would require ~2"-2 1/4"

Mine are 9.5" wide from a 91. So a 2" spacer front and back? Any suggestions or pics of tire sizes? I prefer a square look, ie same front and back for a handling car. Thanks for the info!!

I am really thinking I may powder coat them black, or hydro dip them in carbon fiber.... Any feedback on that? They are the painted years, not the machined ones.

Gotta be careful with the fronts. A lot of people run 2.25" spacers in front, and al ot of people run 2" spacers because they have brake upgrades, and dont need the extra .25". And then some wheels dont need either.

Re: Tire and spacer size with 17" sawblades

I appreciate all the great input. I may go for 2.25 spacers just to be safe, and I'm going to get hub centric all the way around, if I have to get the fronts machined a bit so be it.

Also, I have looked at all the pics, my car is the light blue color, and I'm thinking I'm going to just leave them argent, even though the top is black. I like the clean stock look and it seems like that much wheel darkens the car up too much if it is black. Anyway, I don't think the saw blades will be the final destination, but a fun stop along the way!

Cheers all!!

Dont bother with getting hub centric adapters on the front. The front rotor hubs are just not machined properly... at least mine aren't, to have anything be hub centric on them. You can get adapters that are hubcentric to the wheel, though, and I'd recommend that if it's the typical 70.5 or whatever it is (i tink it's something like that) bore diameter of most late model GM performance wheels. Just because it makes it a lot easier to mount them up, no other reason.

The rears on the other hand are definitely hub centric.

Have you measured the offset of those wheels?

http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.html

And remember, if you ever upgrade your brakes to any modern GM brake system, you'll be adding .300" thickness to the hub stack with the rotor. So you may need to get new adapters then. 17x9.5's spaced out to clear the tie rod really do have a wide stance to them.

The offset is for sure 56MM. I did read the same advice on the front hub centric issue, after your confirmation I will change up and do exactly what you recommend. Stay tuned for pics if I can ever get a day or two off of work!!

Well all didn't go entirely smooth today but I didn't expect it to. Got my new tires put on the saw blades today. Love them. My wheel spacers came, and as advised the fronts will need maching around the hub on the rotor side. The hub on the adapter is also very tight to go in the wheel hub, may need to polish and lube that! To top it all off not sure I am crazy about the wheels, either black or silver! May be an ad up soon for saw blades and brand new tires! Guess I should mount them all and give them a go at least.
