What Locking Lug Nut Is This?

I cant figure out what lug nut lock this is to get the key. Anybody know what it is or have a sure way to get it off? I thought about filing a notch into the side at an angle and getting a beefy and wide screw driver and trying to to use a sledge hammer to break it loose but i dont really know how well that would work.

It looks like someone already tried to get it off because of all the dents and dings near it.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Find a 1/2" drive socket that will just slip over the locking lugnut, then go one more size down to the next socket that just barely doesn't fit. Grab your mini-sledge and hammer the too-small socket on the nut, and crank it off.

If you use a lifetime warranty socket, and the side pops out, well it needed to be replaced anyway.

Its not one of those types of locking lugs, the outside is round and smooth. The only place to grab is that "flower" pattern on the inside. Unless you are suggesting hammering it on to dig in the hex pattern from the socket

Re: What Locking Lug Nut Is This?

It IS a locking nut. You need a key socket to fit that pattern. Do as mentioned above and spin it off.

I know its a locking nut but he thought its one like this (see the picture) that you can just hammer a regular socket on the outside to get it off

It can be done how he described.
Buy a cheap 12pt socket that's a bit to tight, hammer it on the locknut so the socket teeth dig into the smooth outer surface, then remove it.
It may take more than 1 try or more than one type of socket or even the kit I posted above.
Once removed, throw throw those locking nuts in the trash.

Re: What Locking Lug Nut Is This?

You can also weld a nut to the outside of the locking nut & use that to turn it

That's the long and short of it. When you hammer the regular socket onto the lock, it'll cut and bite into the lock and allow you to spin the nut off. Took longer to post the first reply than it takes to do it.
