275s rubbing after C5 swap
Not sure if this should be here or in brakes.
I have ZR1 wheels off of a '98 SS with 275/40/17s. I had been using 2" spacers/adapters. I did a C5 brake swap and had rubbing. I switched to 1.75" spacers and still get what I would say is pretty significant rubbing at full lock. Because of clearance with the tie rod end I don't think I can go any smaller on the spacer. It rubs on the back side of the wheel well and I think the very top corner of the ground effects. Is trimming my only option? I feel like most of what I read people use the right size spacer and don't seem to have any rubbing. Do I need to use a smaller tire?

Re: 275s rubbing after C5 swap
Yes it rubbed earlier with the 2" spacers. The rotors measure right about .300" thick and I went down .250" on the spacers. I find it hard to believe that it's just .050" making the difference but I guess it could be. The wheel and tie rod are so close though I don't think I'd really be comfortable going with a smaller spacer. But I've already bought these. I don't feel comfortable milling or turning them down because I worry about how flat they'd stay.

275 on a 9.5 rim should be no problem. Lots of guys are running c5 z06 wheels up front. Just do a search on here to see what spacers they are running.I know there is a issue with the 17" being close to the tie rod when you get into wider wheels. I went with a 18" to avoid the issue with the tie rod and to keep the wheels inside the wheel wells.

What's the alignment look like? I've run much wider wheels without this problem.

Re: 275s rubbing after C5 swap
I have stock a-arms. The alignment seems fine, the car tracks straight and the rubbing is consistant on both sides. From what I've read people seem to use anywhere from a 1.5" spacer to a 2" spacer. With stock brakes and the 2" spacer everything fit great. Now I've added .300" worth of disk, went down .250" on the spacer so if anything my wheels are sticking out .050" further than before, but with the clearance I had before the swap I wouldn't think this would be a problem. C5 brakes and 4th gen wheels are super common. I guess I just have to take them off and make sure everything looks right.
