Any experience with Mickey Thompson's Street Comp UHP tire?
Like the title says, curious if any of you guys have any experience with the MT Street Comp. Shopping for tires for those expected 17" Irocs from Hawk's. 275/40/17. Typically it seems MT tires are pretty good, and wow, that plane sidewall is just gorgeous! But it's gotta perform well too. Summit has 'em for $136ea. ...also looking at Continental Extreme Contact Sports at $176. -But there's no shortage of positive reviews of those tires!

Just bought a set......... in that size. Used a coupon code a JEGS to get a pretty good deal on them. ( Priced @ $154 everywhere right now ) They just got delivered and still need to get mounted, but I'll I'll know how they roll soon enough & will re-post here sometime this spring with some feedback.

Don't let them freeze, but If they do freeze,... don't drive on them ! If you leave them on a car parked over the entire winter,...... there is a high probability that they will develop flat spots within a couple seasons. These tire compounds can NOT handle freezing temps !

Here's a quick review on the Mickey Thompson's Street Comp from AmericanMuscle.com:
I got 16 years out of a set of Nittos before the cracking rubber was too shockingly-severe to drive on the street any longer. I let the cracks get to an obscene depth before I was forced to relent and finally bought another set of 'sneakers'. Not going to be able to run the Vette wheels anymore, but it's been a while since my ride had ZR1's mounted on it and I'm looking forward to the wheel change.
My only experience with Mickey Thompson tires was a set of Indy Profile SS tires when the car was 'set-up' for straight line..........
I've bought plenty of Cooper tires and was glad when they bought MT and I'm glad to see the MT brand still on the market today. I don't know if these Street Comp tires will hold up over time,...... but they were priced right and 'checked all the boxes' on my search for new tires.
As with ANY "ultra performance" tire,...... you shouldn't leave them on a car during long periods of cold storage, allow them to freeze, and should never drive on them when temps are below freezing to avoid cracking.

Re: Any experience with Mickey Thompson's Street Comp UHP tire?
They don't 'stick' as good as the Nittos,....... and I found that they make the car a bit "floaty" when overinflated.
I originally had the air pressure set in March but once the season changed and it warmed up outside I noticed the car handled a bit "funny". They were all a few pounds over max and they had to be deflated a bit. They stick good on corners at high(er then normal) speed and don't "squeal" much. Not a lot of road noise from them and they seem to be wearing even. (Well; the rear tires are a few thousand miles thinner than the front now -----> but that's my fault ! )
Overall; I'm happy with this set of rubber.

But I think Abubaca sold his car anyway....
I did. But before I did, I ended up going with the Continental Extreme Contact, which proved to be a great tire. ...I have also since heard good things about the MT.
