Why are people still voicing opinion on the choices? The wheel is imminent

Re: Hawks Ronal R-15 18x10 Reproduction Poll

Are there any updates on the wheel? I know the wheel has been chosen and its on pre-order for fall 2020 which has passed. I'm doing the CTS-V 6 piston upgrade to my car and hoping this wheel is still going to be produced.

Hi Guys sorry for the delay , the whole Covid 19 Fiasco has slowed over seas production and delivery by a TON , My last update is these should be here end of April BUT I do know the port is backed up with containers and being checked in so could be may or June before I have them here ready to ship . I promise I am more upset than you guys but nothing I can do to really change it or speed it up so for now just have to sit back and be patient . Thanks again for all the support !!

Bruce, will you have any "extra" sets available that aren't allocated for pre orders? I would like to order a set but knew there would be delays

Re: Hawks Ronal R-15 18x10 Reproduction Poll

I am thinking about getting a set, so I can run a staggered setup on both cars.

18x10 rear with 17x9.5 front

Just gotta figure out tire sizes.

Later,
Chris

Anyone receive their wheels and have pictures? I'm debating a set for my 91 Z28. Really wished they still had the 17x9.5 though.

Yeah, I am still waiting on some pictures and reviews. The asking price bounce up to 1699$ and Hawks doens't seem to offer the any discount on them as they use to such like the Independance day promotion...

You can still get the 17 inch wheel. Just not from Hawks it seems. Idk who produces the 18 inch wheel. OER only lists the 17.

I'll take a look but I'd be willing to bet they dont have them even though they are listed on these sites.

I agree as I experienced the same thing - I wish these places would stop advertising them as it's a waste of peoples time making them think they have them or can get them.

As just a personal preference thing? Using 18s on our cars gets around the outer tie rod issue. 17x9.5 (I have a set) is as big as you can go up front without tie rod interference and tucks in enough to not look like they are sticking out.

Curious as to how low you can get with the 18s.

Don't know if the car belongs to a TGO member, but I remember Hawk's posting some pictures, so I searched the net and found them. Also found a yellow Camaro with a set that has color keyed inserts that might've served as the prototype.

Re: Hawks Ronal R-15 18x10 Reproduction Poll

I think 18" is where it starts to matter WHAT wheel you're talking about as to how it looks. Wheels like the GTA or Weld S71's with that double lip look good, but honestly I just think the Firehawk looks too big. I'm a fan of big tires and big brakes, but I love the LOOK of a proper 16" wheel on these cars. 17" works too, but 18" just starts looking big.

Those look great! Did you need spacers with your brake setup? What size tires are you running?

Re: Hawks Ronal R-15 18x10 Reproduction Poll

Has anyone that purchased these had issues with the center caps yellowing? I purchased a set in 2022 and within a few months they started to yellow, the car is parked outside all the time and gets sun exposure constantly, the wheels are fine its only the center cap. I contacted Hawks and they where able to help me out and replace the center caps for me and we all chalked up to probably a bad finish on my set. I noticed that the replacement caps are also starting to begin to yellow again, And I haven't driven the car or washed it since putting the replacement caps months ago.

These are what they looked like the first time around.

Any chance you'll bring out an 18 x 10 IROC-Z (85-87) wheel?
