17x9 GTA's Tire suggestion
I ordered the GTA's over the 4'th when they had them on sale.
I want a sporty tire, I'm a little worried the 275's will rub too much on the front (the 16's will contact the liner at full lock as it is)
Anyone have a side by side picture of the 275 vs 255, I was initially looking at the continental extreme contact sport but am leaning toward the Falken Azenis FK510 now that I see others are running the 255's
I may eventually try autocross with the car, but for now mainly weekend cruising on mountain roads.

Thumbs up for the Conti Extreme Contacts! -That's what I'm running. ....can't speak to the 255 though. My 275 ever so slightly rubs the liner at full lock, but no surprise that so many of us have different experiences. For a DD, I wouldn't worry about the 255 at all, but for competitive driving, I'm not sure I'd wanna give up that width. -but I'm no expert, so just my rookie 2 cents.

275/40/17 BFGs or Contis are what to go with for appearance and street driving. For autocross, you want the lowest treadwear rating allowed in the class you're in (or slicks if allowed).
I have the 275/40 BFGs and love them for street driving and they look great. They're not the best for autocross due to a street-focused treadwear rating.

Re: 17x9 GTA's Tire suggestion
So I have sets of the Falken 615Ks and Continental Extreme contacts in 275-40-17 on my cars, plus a few dozen street cars on our wheels with pretty much every type of tire in 275-40-17.
The Contis rides well, handle well, are good in the rain and are quiet, but not the tire for an autocross.
The Falkens ride more harshly (stiffer sidewall), are ok in the rain, and are louder - but have much higher limits than the Contis and some have used them on the autocross with success.
The BFG are really great for the price and anything over $200/tire isn't going to give you a good bang for your buck since the tires are only a tiny bit better.

Re: 17x9 GTA's Tire suggestion
Interesting Discount tire rates the Falken FK510 with stopping distances wet 126ft and dry 107 where as they rate the extreme contact 133 ft wet and 109 ft dry -- the 615ks is too much of a track tire for me to street it.
For auto cross it would be for fun I don't care if I'm the fastest guy out there, if I ever did I would probably buy a set of torqthrust wheels with track tires for that purpose.
I guess my struggle is on paper the FK510 and the extrema contact are on par even though the conti is a class higher tire.
No one has those in stock locally I was hoping they did so I could see how they would look. Other than making rotating tires a non-starter has anyone ran 255 in front and 275 in the back other than for drag racing?

I would say the exact same. They were not the tire for the autocross or on the road course. Fine tire for overall street driving, except in cold. I had one split a sidewall in the cold, and not even extreme cold, just mild NJ winter cold

Re: 17x9 GTA's Tire suggestion
I am going to repaint the center of the new wheels to the gun metal. the old wheels were polished and duplicolor paint in 2003. This time around I will probably do a proper base clear. With the 4th gen brakes I don't need the spacers.
