17 hawk wheels not the correct color

anyone else noticed that the 17” hawks wheels are not the correct color? and I like the original color better. guess I could paint them, but for the price they could had gotten closer to the correct color.

Re: 17 hawk wheels not the correct color

When I was waiting on the gold IROC wheels, they said they were a little delayed because they wanted to be sure they got the "right" gold. Assume they did the same for the GTA's. Also, there's a recent thread discussing how there's different golds used on different wheels, having no correlation to year or model. Seems to be just a matter of different batches painted at different times.

That plus age and normal heating/cooling cycles of driving will slightly alter the color on the wheels.

GM used more than one gold. Can't really expect an aftermarket wheel to match all of the factory wheels.

Re: 17 hawk wheels not the correct color

I'll chime in with this in regards to GTA wheel colors. The one that I found that appears spot on, is called Gold Poly. It matches the gold on the center caps perfectly, too. It's what I used when I restored the Trans Am wheels. I feel like that's what the Hawks wheels SHOULD have on them as well

Also, the factory wheel you have in your pic also looks like Gold Poly. I have only seen 1 other variance on GTA or IROC wheels....and it appears DARKER than Gold Poly. I agree....the Hawks wheels look way too bright.
