84 Camaro Wheel Upgrades to 16 or 17 inch wheels...

Looking for 16 or 17 inch wheels for my 84 Camaro Berlinetta...

Who's upgraded and what worked for you? The 14" finned gold Berlinetta wheels don't appear to be made aftermarket, so I'm looking at going with
16 or 17's.

The car is blue and gold, would really like to find some gold wheels to match the paint.

Any help would be appreciated! By the way, made it home from Denver in 1 piece with "Air Maro", now it's time for upgrades!

TIA

Jim

IROC Z wheels are 16" and fit earlier years.

Thanks for the help. I'll take a look but I'm not seeing any available on a Google search so far.

Facebook Marketplace is going to be your best bet by far.

I found 15" IROC wheels in Phoenix for $300, but they need some curb rash repair.

Anyone have any issues with a 17" wheel with 275/40/17 tires and rubbing?

TIA, again!

I found a set of 16 inch 1990 IROC wheels locally with Cooper 245/50/16 tires on them for a good price.
In your opinion/experience will these fit ok (no rubbing/etc) ?

Another member had 17" wheels on his 85 IROC and he says they're fine, so I'm thinking the factory IROC 16's should work.
They have the correct front/rear markings on them as well.

Let me know if I've missed something!

I put the 16" iroc wheels on my 82 berlinetta and have had zero issues with rubbing. It is a factory wheel

now the 17's on my firebird tend to rub up front when close to full lock.

This is a very common size that 3rd gen folks run on the rear. Works great but a bit too much up front. You should consider lowering the car too as fender gap is exaggerated with larger wheels. You're going to spend a lot of money and time trying to source original Iroc wheels. There are aftermarket clones that may be better for you in the end.

I already found IROC 16" wheels and tires from a 1990 IROC locally.

They are super common. On Marketplace right now there are 6 sets within 50 miles of me, all under $600 with tires or $400 without. Even have your pick of black or gold color.

I need the gold color, and these are only 120 miles away. Tires have some tread left on them, so for $700 I'm not going to go nuts searching any further, although LA/SoCal had similar pricing. Thanks for the post, though!

Got the 90 IROC Z 16" wheels. Cleaned them up, look ok, need a deeper cleaning and some polish. Tires have about 3/8" deep of tread, not griping about that. Ordered new wheel caps, so it should be ready for its suspension upgrade on May 9th. Then....the crate motor transplant begins. Thanks for all the help!

Re: 84 Camaro Wheel Upgrades to 16 or 17 inch wheels...

Got the 16" IROC wheels and 245/50-16 tires installed. All new suspension parts/sway bars/Koni adjustable shocks and new PowerStop brake calipers/rotor and pads installed as well.
I'll be testing the front shock adjustment today. Lowest setting is basically stock, I turned the **** 1/4 turn and hopefully that's a nice combination of handling and comfort. Here are some pics. Thanks to everyone for suggestions, recommendations and advice!

Re: 84 Camaro Wheel Upgrades to 16 or 17 inch wheels...

Well, the 245/50's are rubbing on both sides of the frame when I turn the wheel all the way.

Not sure if it needs 235/60/16's or even smaller. Anyone got a definitive size for an 84 Berlinetta in 16 inch that does not rub?

TIA!

Did you get the spacers with the wheels? I believe the fronts had a small spacer behind them from the get go to help prevent that. I could be mistaken though.
Apparently I was mistaken the IROC wheel spacers are for the rear after a quick search

The 16" IROC Z wheels work fine in the rear, but the 245/50/16's are just a tad too wide in the front. Appreciate the post!

I put on 225/50 16" tires on the front and they don't rub. Just in case someone needs this info. The 245/50's do rub, so I now have two extra rear tires.
