I have an 89 with 2.8 mpfi, it looks exactly the same as yours as far as I'm concerned. If you want I can take pictures, but I won't be able to till this weekend.

Do you notice a big difference with the K&N filter and the way you set it up from the stock one? Not trying to change subject, just wondering. Thanks

Actually, yeah. And combind with the headlights up, it was a noticeable difference. I also designed a PVC pipe piece to replace the part between the MAF and the TB, but it actually didnt make much of a difference. But the best thing you can do to one of these v6's is to give it more air.

Nice. Mine has like no power but it does when its cold so I think its a big lack of air. You said there a big diff with just the K&N filter hooked staright to the maf? I was going to see if I could reg up a regular filter for the time being. What do you recommand

those pics look like mine, but the one that i saw was slanted downward from front to back...it's radiator was also slanted to where the bottom was closer to the engine. have any of you ever ran across this before, or do you think that it was a custom job?

Never had a smog pump. From looking in the shop manuals it seems that only Manual trans got a smog pump in '87, mines an auto. My '88 firebird was an auto and it had a smog pump. Maybe they added the smog pump to everything in '88?
