just finished up my oval exhaust

it definitely gained me some ground clearence. with the car on the ground i now have 4 inches of clearenceon a car that has been lowered over an inch. so im pretty happy with this setup. in the pics it makes the exhaust look crooked, its not, i measured and leveled it all, i guess its just an illusion. anyway, enjoy

that is soooo simple and beautiful
with a ground clearance being the main problem with a dual setup 4" is very good
however, isn't there gonna be any bad feedback about having the outlets of the pipes under the car? like rotting floor pan or I dunno...
it might look funny in a cold weather when there are a lot of fumes coming out of pipes, sth like your car being on fire

the car isnt driven in the winter so im not too worried about that kinda stuff, and im not sure about not having tail pipes being any problems, i like it a lot cuz its all hidden

i dont have a side shot on the ground yet, but like i said, i have 4 inches of clearence and the car is lowered just over an inch, so on a stock height car it would be great.

i dont know the exact dimensions of the tubing, spintech may have it on their site, i think i remember it being like an inch and a half high tho

Wow, nicely done. What kind of headers are those?
What was your exhaust before? Did you notice an improvement? How loud is it dumping in front of the axle like that?

Thanks

the headers are hooker long tubes, i dont have any fuel lines on the car at the moment, so i dont have any other answers yet, but i will have em this weekend hopefully. i did fill the bowls in the carb and start it up for a second and it sounded very very nice.

Shouldn't you put a cross-over of some sort in there?

Looks good but my only question is why didnt you route the pipes into the driveshaft tunnel? If you tilted them on an angle it looks like they'd fit perfectly and double your ground clearance...

they are in the plans. i just have to figure out what i wanna do. spin tech make a bend that goes down also, i may just get one of them and cut and weld it up.

88IROC350TPI,
i wanted to make the least amount of bends possible considering that my bends consist of cutting the tubing on an angle and welding it back up. i didnt want to restrict the flow any more that i have with the bend on the drivers side. also, if i did put the in the driveshaft tunnel on an angle there would be no where for the mufflers to go on an angle. good thought tho

You could have used a couple of round-to-oval transitions to change the angle.

It looks like he's already got pleanty of ground clearence, from the pics it doesnt look like they'll be hanging down any further than his rear sway bar. But im not sure if thats right once he gets it back on the ground. Some side view pics sure would be nice. Is there any downside to an oval exhaust?

The hole in your wallet afterwards. I still wanna run oval exhaust too! Maybe even experiment with a boom tube. We'll see.

your right about it all. like i said, i have 4 inches of clearence and the car is lowered over and inch. i dented the floor board so i could tuck it up even tighter. for anyone who has hooker LTs they know that they hang down low enough on their own. the parts that i dented were all long the driveshaft tunnel to gain me a small amount, and underneith the rear seats i dented. the metal was very easy to dent up with a small hammer and when in the car you cant even notice. i alost had to heat and dent the passenger side front subframe for more clearence. im not too worried about meesing up the integrity of the car, because im having a custom set of subframe connectors bent for my car that are going to come out and be welded to the pinch weld all the way down the sides of the car to better stiffen it up(i hope that made sense)

Im glad someone else did it...now I know what my system is going to look like . I ordered 2 transitions, 2-40" lengths of oval pipe, 1-18" length of oval pipe, and 2 custom made Spintech Sportsman Street XL mufflers with oval in and round outlets and a 3" rather than the stock 4" thick case. Its was $498.00 to my door. Not cheap but its what I wanted. I got the round outlets so I can easily have tailpipes made when Im ready. Its good to know the clearance is gonna work out the way I hoped. Im going to used the 18" piece to make an H-pipe set up. By the way they have oval turn downs you can order for your set up.

the car is currently having the custom subframe connectors put on it at the shop, so i cant take a pick. but if you have hooker LTs on a car and know how low they hang already, it sits up higher than the hooker LT collector. as soon as i get the car back ill take pics

awesome. i am so stealing that design this winter i assume that when spintech says 3" oval, its equivilant to 3" round, or is that the width of the tube? what did you do for the collectors?

The 3" oval tubing is equal to the area of the 3' round. When I order my oval pipes that was my concern. It doesnt save you as much as you would think but its a enough...its still like having 2.25 round pipes running under your car. I had them make custom mufflers as well that have a 3" thick case rather than the standard 4" to 5" cases found on most welded mufflers of that type....but at 145.00 a muffler ya might wanna think twice....lol.

The exhaust looks good, but get that fram oil filter off your car!

Don't you need some kind of crossover pipe?

Fram has one of THE WORST filtration ratings. Go get a napa/wix filter those are good!
