Two months back a guy brought in the kit he got from Powerhouse and had me build his short block. He had them balance it and I checked it out. It was pretty good. Be sure when your clearance the block to check cam clearance. His was real close. He has not completely broken it in yet but he seems real happy with it.

do not get that kit. i repeat, do not get that kit. I put one in a 92 camaro with every bolt on you can imagine, and this thing is slooooow. do youself a favor and build a 350. do a search on this topic, theres a long thread from a while back were i put all the problems that we had with it, and all the parts that were on it. I wouldnt recomend this kit to anyone, you can spend the same amount of money, and or less on a 350 and go way faster. I understand the "I wanna be different" thing, and respect that. If you have any questions let me know. Jason

well i only have the money to get the kit, my dad wont help me out any more. and i dont have a job so it is a fix for now, until i can get the money, because i wanta 350 but there is no place that i can buy one that i can just drop in rather then have to go buy intake, carb, ignition plus belt accessories. but if you can tell me were to go to find one of these for under 1700 please by all means tell me.

You can get a brand-new GM crate engine, the Goodwrench 350 for 12-1300 bucks. It's a long block so all you should have to do is bolt on the stuff you need from your old engine. It's a four bolt main engine and puts out about 235-250 hp. Put one in a vette a few years ago and it's an excellent engine. you also get the 3yr/30,000mi warranty with it. I highly recommend it if you're one a budget. You can modify it later as you have time and money.

i have another question, i was on this website that i can order a rebuilt 350 for like 900$, but i would need ignition, intake/carb, and valve covers, i would buy new walve covers but what is the difference between a short block and a long block. and would the water pump, intake, etc. all fit on it or what would i have to buy knew, this is a link to that site and engine hopefully http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/...45102479330.91

thanks

are you looking for a complete engine? as it was mentioned GM crate engines are pretty well priced, just shop around because some places mark them way up. IMO, you will do more work with the 335. the amount of clearence work you have to do is ridiculous. I would rebuild the 305 before I would spend the time and money on the 335. A short block is the block, crank, rods, pistons w/ rings and bearings. A long block has everything the short block does plus cylinder heads, and oil pan and timing cover. You still will need intake, exhaust, ignition, and carb to get it going. Not many places sell short blocks anymore because of warranty reasons.

Being a small block chevy, most everything you have already will bolt onto whatever short or long-block engine you decide to buy. You can also shop the junk yards for a complete assembly, too. Any engine 1992 and older will bolt right in. You may find a sweet deal a nice L98 from a 92 and older Z28 or Corvette. Sounds like you're in for an adventure no matter what. Good luck!
