VATS Module

I have been researching this topic for months and now know VATS well. My problem is my module has failed, no question about it. I don't want to bypass it and since it failed more than 6 months ago I have been using a friends unit with resistance substitution. Now his car is mobile he has it back and I am without a car.
To make matter worse I have lost my VATS module over this time. Any suggestions?.
Regards, Paul.

Welcome to the boards Paul. Not sure what your question is. You either need to get a module or bypass it. There is always the boneyards or e-bay.

I remember a post a while back (several months) that was talkin about what computer chips would be needed to re-create the square wave ground signal that the VATS module made. Anybody remember that?

Yeah I do. The ECM looks for about a 50-60hz square wave from the VATS module. It can be done very easily with a simple NE-555 timer ic. The circuit for a 555 can be found in any electronics book that covers linear IC's. I am gonna break down and get me a scanner, got a million books here on ic's.

Well, you don't want to bypass it, so buy a new module. Pretty simple... not much to comment on really.

Thanks for all your feedback, I have several diagrams to go by to build a bypass and they all seem to be the same.
I would have liked to maintain the original system, however we don't have a GM dealer in New Zealand, and GMParts won't ship outside the US (Great for ecomomy revival!)
One other thing, Does anyone know the colour coding going to the VATS Box?.
