Shouldnt cost much, its just a piece of plastic. I'd say you could get one at any wrecking yard, probably a 10 or 15 dollar item. I forget what I was quoted from the dealer for the one on my TA, but it wasnt all that much.

$20 plus shipping from GM parts direct for a brand new updated 3 piece Firebird air dam. All new hardware included. It should work on the Camaro too since they only use the center piece.

Then I suggest contacting Lon for one of his cool Air Dam Skid Guards. I have the prototype on my car and it's still going strong after repeated driveway scrapes. Definitely keeping my air dam alive.

Brittney,
I reinforced mine with some custom made aluminum clips and brackets. Lon's skid guard helps quite a bit as well.

Yeah, the only problem is finding a decent one at the wrecking yard is about a good as finding a good OEM '85-'90 style aero-wing.

Does anyone have a pic of Lon's skid guard protector?

My local Chevy dealer informed me about a year ago that the driver's side air-deflector section for '85-'90 Firebird T/A's are no longer available from GM. Fortunately, the passenger side and center sections were still available at that time.

Since some here have been able to still get the whole three piece set for their cars, can anyone verify if any of the pieces have been actually discontinued yet?

How come everyone's getting them from $20-$30 for all three pieces? Just one side piece cost me around $20 when I ordered mine.

Does Dal give trade prices?

Here's the info from www.gmpartsdirect.com:
GM PART # 12395557
CATEGORY: Radiator Air Deflector/Baffle
PACK QTY: 1
GM LIST: $33.45
OUR PRICE: [U]$19.74[/U[

Here's the exact same GM kit on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2421441813

And here's some pics of Lon's skid guard. The guard takes the abuse and prevents the air deflector from snagging when going up and down driveways. You can also see my custom brackets for added support in the second pick.

Bret, nice pics. Lon's protector looks great! How much does he charge for one of those? Does he also do the installation for you too?

The GM parts link doesn't really describe what sections you get with the radiator air-baffle kit. It just says radiator air-baffle which I would presume is only the center portion under the radiator knowing GM. However, you did mention that the GM air-baffle kit is the same exact one selling on ebay which has the side sections as well. IIRC, you can order them separately or get all of them in the 3-pc kit.

I'm trying to figure out why the dealer told me that the driver's side section was no longer available. I deal with them on a semi-regular basis and they seem to know their stuff.

I'm not sure on Lon's pricing. I have the prototype so mine was FREE.

I bought a total two deflector kits. One from the vendor on eBay (and paid $45 after shipping – this one is on my car) and a second from GM Parts Direct (and only paid like $30 + or - after shipping – this one is tucked away for safe keeping ). They are the exact same kit - all 3 pieces with all new mounting hardware and instructions.

It may be that you can no longer get the driver's side piece by itself. The 3 piece kits seem to be readily available. In fact, I'm tempted to pick up 1 or 2 more so I have more than one spare. Give your dealer the part number I listed and the 3 piece kit should come up on their computer.
