best stuff to clean engine bay

i will probablt be cleaing up my engine bay this weekend, i soaked the whole thing in 100% concentrate simple green, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinsed. It turned out ok.

Now i want to make it look better, by cleaning up grease and stuff and making the hoses shine. What can be used to make the hoses look glossy? or the intake duct work? what else do u recommend to do other parts of the engine and the bay?

i used that "Gunk" degreaser that you can buy at walmart.. works really well. i used it on the engine (it is actually an engine degreaser) and on my rims. on the back side of them rims there was like , it seemed, and inch of brake dust caked on. you just spray it on, leave it for 10-15 mins, then spray it off. hose, or pressure washer. obviously pressure will work better, but a hose worked fine.

I would try polishing the paint on the inner fender if it is in fairly good condition, maybe move the overflow and window washer canisters to get everything out.

I cleaned alot of crap from down buy that charcoal canister and that seemed to look alot cleaner.

I soaked my engine compartment in cleaner, power washed, dried and then sprayed a 'little' bit of wd-40 on a clean rag to clean up my innerfenders and duct work as well as my hoses and it looked really good!!!
not sure if something like that is safe or recommended but I havent had any problems yet

Try Grease Lightning... the stuff is amazing. It will cut any grease with one wipe of a rag.

I took gloss enamel black paint and painted all the black, or most of it, under the hood. Like the fans, pulleys, strut towers, hoses, etc. It gives it a shiny, just cleaned look. I also did my air dam and am thinkin of doing the wheel wells and some of the exhaust.

Sorry about not replying, anyways the Steam cleaner is just a lil handheld device, ya you've probally seen them on Tv before. Its what alot of detailing shop will use, some not all, It complete cuts away all the grime and sludge and you seriously don't have to touch an thing. And the best part is you can con your spouse or parents into needing it cause you can steam clean furinture or whatever else might have germs or whatever on it. My folks use mine on everything...

best thing to do with the resevoirs is to get new ones. Local Gm dealer. 35 bucks for both of them....and there brand new.

Powerwash everything. Then spray wd-40 on all of your plastic, belts, and hoses. Makes everything look good.

nope, unless you get it in your distributor. so dont spray directly at your distributor and you should be fine. I have done it a couple times at the local car wash. i am looking for something that will make it pertier.
