Shocks: Top of the Line MONROE...or KYB?

I have a commercial account at Kragen... so one of the few things I get a nice discount on are shocks/struts.

I can get the top of the line Monroes for 50$ for the front and 24$ for the back.

I cannot get the 50$ KYB's, they'll cost 122$ a piece for the gas-a-just ones at Kragen.

I could just order the Gr-2's from summit for about the same $$$.

So, should I get the Monroe setup, or order the GR-2 KYB's?

I would get the monroe formula GPs if given that choice. My first option would be koni yellows.

I have had Monroes, KYB's and gabriels on my car and I can say that the KYB's are far superior to them all. The Gabriels are a joke. Dont ever ever ever put them on your car, I dont care if they are free or if somebody wants to pay you to put them on your car they are horrible. The monroes are good for a month and then they start to soften up and after about 10,000 miles they are shot.

The KYB's are:
1. cheaper
2. better quality
3. longer lasting

Get the KYB's you'll be very happy.

I've been suffering with Monroe shocks for the past 5 years... I am finally getting around to KYB shocks/struts this year.

I hadn't realized how bad they were until I took a ride in a friend's Camaro...

Are you sure?? Together a set of Gr-2 fronts and a set of gas-a-just rears is about 150 give or take 10 bucks depending on where you get them. They make for a great combo. They dont make gas-a-just for the fronts, only the rears.

EDIT: I just re-read that you cant get them through Kragen unless you pay like some insane amount of money. Just order them through Summit and save some money. Summit does free shipping but seeing as your in the islands I dont know if that changes things...

The ones I can get thru Kragen are not GR-2's, they are the Gas-A-just ones that are way better.

Then order them through Summit and save some cash.

x2 KYB-236001 KYB GR-2 Gas Struts $49.95 = $99.90

x2 KYB-KG5562 KYB Gas-a-Just Shocks $27.95 = $55.90

Sub Total: $155.80

Summit has free shipping, but since your in Hawaii I dont know if that changes. Its the same price you would be paying for lesser quality Monroes.....

I chose KYBs and I ordered them from Australia and I never looked back. They are great.

Warning, Do NOT get the Sensa-tracs if you're looking for a performance strut, they're too soft. I have them but I cruise freeways most of the time so it's cool. I don't recommend them if you're looking for better handling. The rears are ok though. I got the set of 4 from Summit for like $114 two yrs ago.

I wasn't aware there was a gas-a-just for 82-92 Camaro/Firebirds for the STRUTS.

I have the GR-2 Struts and the gas-a-just shocks and I like them a lot. There no Koni's but for the price u pay for the KYB's there a good shock/strut for the street.

91Bird305, I was just about to say that. I remember searching the KYB website's catalog, and wondering why there weren't any gas-a-just struts, just gr-2 struts, or the AGX adjustable struts.
