Painting GTA wheels..
Painting GTA wheels..
Is it possible? I have some golds, but I want some blacks..and it seems that just having them pro painted black might be cheaper than hunting down some blacks...anyone have any idea how expensive this might be?

Ok... that way could work, but here is an easier, way more affective way.
***DO NOT USE SAND PAPER ANYWHERE ON RIMS***
1: You need a can of aircraft stripper, a few paint brushes, some duck (qwak
) tape, a spray nozzle(pump kind like on windex... any one from anything will do) and some clearcoat.
2. Start by taping up the INSIDE honeycomb part of the rim with duck tape.
3. Insert the spray nozzle into the can of aircraft stripper, and spray HEAVILY over outer polished part of rim. It will be thick and globby, but that is good. Make sure the entire rim is covered, VERY HEAVILY. ***you can skip step 2 if you would like to strip the honeycomb part of your rim aswell***
4. Ignore the directions on can, and let sit for 1-2 hours on rim, swirling stripper around on rim every 15-20 mins with paint brush.
5. Once the time is up, use a paint brush and swirl all of the stripper, making sure no pieces of clear coat are left on the rim. Once your sure its good, remove the tape on the inside, and hose off completely. Dry with towels.
6. Paint the inside of your rim, if doing so, with appropriate paint, as per directions on can. Make sure to tape off aluminum area!
7. Now, proceed to polish the outer rim with your preferred metal polish (I prefer Mothers) ***note: you are now at bare aluminum, and nomatter how much you polish, your rag WILL ALLWAYS TURN BLACK!!!***
8. After fully polished and ready to go, make sure the rims is clean and free of any polish residue, and clear coat your rim. Make sure to get a compatible clear coat, and follow directions on can!
9. Put rims on your car when COMPLETELY DRY. If the clearcoat and/or paint is still tacky, brake dust will embed itself in there, and youll have to start over.
10. Drive around town showing off you better-than-brand-new rims!!!
This process isnt as hard as it sounds... I dunno, its kinda fun to do... its the best way that I have found to do it!
Good Luck!

Yeah, I left my tires on there. Just try not to get any on the tires. I got some on there, and it didnt hurt the tires at all, but some say it can. And the tape wont stick to the tires(trust me
), so youll wanna use the paint brush to apply it to the very outside lip of the rim. Thats also why I like using the sprayer, you can make it go exactly where you wanna!
