Under Side of the SS hood
Hey can someone post a pic of the underside of the SS hood. Thinking about getting one and just wondering what the underside looks like.

I'll get you guys a pic as soon as I get my car back from the shop....but until then i'll describe it as best I can: It looks exactly like the hood does from the top, except inverted....I'll get the pics as soon as I get the chance...

one thing to consider with these hoods...they are fiberglass so as far as I know you can't put the spring on them to pop them up...so (for me at least) it takes a good 15mins to get it open (I use one hand to push up from underneath and the other to undo the latch....it's a PITA...so far I haven't found any better way to do it, but it looks so much better, that I just deal with it....

It has the brackets for the spring. You can see them in my pic. Mine pops loose jsut from pulling the lever inside. I simply have to just life it up.... Im sure each car is a little different with its alignments though.
I just got my SS hood about 2 weeks ago .. the hood does not have the provisions for the spring either. However there is another way to put pressure on the hood, just turn the rubber bumper stops(located on the rad support) up till they touch the hood, might take a few times turning them up and down to keep the hood even with the fenders.

well, actually I don't have a pic of it....I was gonna take one when I get my car back from being painted tommorow, but it looks like someone beat me too it....which is good because now I won't have to fight with it to get the damn thing open and bother to take a pic...

Hard to say what it will cost to paint it.. all depends on who does it and what type of paint. For me, I could do it for the cost of materials. Ill be painting my whole car though so mines not painted yet.
I bought the hood from thirdgenresource.com... American is the only company making them right now though. Anywhere you order from, its will be from them. I see them for $425-$450,.

I believe in that picture showing the hood latch assembly there are 2 little plastic pieces next to it, that is where the spring is supposed to mount. Here's what the spring looks like mounted on my Harwood 3' Cowl hood (which i am selling to buy the SS hood)

hood seal
Hey,
I have had the SS hood for awhile and maybe i'm just missing something big but how did you guys seal your hood at the back??? the stock hood seal won't fit and all the hot engine compartment air is going into my vents at the cowl (right aroudn the wipers) and my vent feels like a heater. have to turn the air on to even get remotley cool air...???????????????????????????????????????????????? help!!!!

Does it look like it can be made functional without damaging it? Also was wondering if the raised area is in position to give additional hood clearance? Or does it overlap where the air cleaner would be? I want the look of the hood but I want to make it functional and I need more hood clearance.
Could somone post pics of the "scoop" area so I can see what to expect? Thanks for any info and pics.
