Replacing the TV cable?
Replacing the TV cable?
The little plastic end thing (that attaches to the throttle lever) broke. Does someone know if you can get the plastic end piece or do I have to replace the whole cable?!? If so, how do I replace the cable? Is it hard?
Your going to have to replace to whole t.v. cable. Its easy to do its only one 10mm bolt that holds it down to transmission. I broke off that plastic piece that mounted to the trottle body as well not knowing how to take it off
and as a temp fix I heated up a peice of a coat hanger and melted it trew the plastic peice that I broke then i bent it around the metel peice that the plastic peice used to be mounted to. Then i adjusted the T.V. cable and it worked perfect until Iwas able to afford a new T.V. cable.I know this sound kinda crazy but I had to have my car on the road. Hope this kinda helps you out.

Thank you...Well if I have to buy a new cable then I'll do it...so it's a easy fix? Is the cable hard to feed through at all? I'm assuming you just reroute it through where the other one is (around the distributor and down to the passenger side of the tranny) and it's just one bolt? That sound pretty easy.
yeah, I had the same problem, its sorta PITA with it in the car.
There is little to no room, so I hope you have a small ratchet and even smalle hands.
other than the space issue, its real easy to do.

Its not very hard to replace, but the only places I know where you can get a new one is either the junk yard or the dealer. I dont think autozone sells those. I would look around at the junk yard first because i had to get my shifter cable from the dealer and it was about 60 bucks. GM is sure proud of their replacement parts...

If you take the cross member off and let the tail shaft drop down a little bit and use the box end of the wrench it makes it alot easier to get to that bolt. Its kinda a pain in the a$$ getting the cable connected to the that spring loaded valve in the thight spot you have to work with but its not anything to worry about. It alot easier if you have a person pulling on the cable after you get it connected to the valve.

Before you install it, shoot brake cleaner (or water or SOMETHING) around the TV cable where it enters the transmission, and get rid of all the dirt. You really don't want to dump a load of oily dirty crud into the trans when you pull the TV cable out of it's grommet.
What's the part # on that TV cable? Mine won't hold an adjustment anymore, and I think I need a new one.
