New Summit Racing Seats
Hey guys check out the new summit racing seat,
It’s really a nice looking seat that’s very inexpensive. $199.95 per seat is very cheap on a name brand seat (I consider summit to be name brand). Plus its leather like material gives it an expensive look.
Also if you go to Summit's site they don’t have a pic of the seat. SO I went ahead and scanned the one that came with my latest summit magazine. Right now they are sold out but next shipping date will be 02-17-04. SO if you buy now you can get them then.

oh yeah and also after studying thos epics tremedously, the summit racing seat is completely different from the one you got. Yours has too many seams to be the same seat. But yeah they do look similar, but these seat are more readily availible since 3a doens't make them anymore. They are prolly better made also since they are summit, Summit makes pretty good stuff man.
And yeah d00d, didn't notice uit until now but you will not be saved at all with your seat belts like that.

no their the exact same seats you just have a low quality pic same company same thing i've seen them in the summit catalouge. about the racing harness's lmracing sells these bolt in harness bars that bolt in behing the rear seat and let you mount them correctly so i should be ordering them soon plus the car isnt getting driven yet.

well the weird thing is that 3a racing doesn't make them seats anymore. So its either the same seat made by someone else, or a different look-alike seat. Also summits latest catalog is the only one with it in there.
Also, when you said something about the seat belts, is there anyway to make them work? I mean you said your seats are bolted t directly to the floor right? Well i'm gonan use the rollers that come with them so they wont be in the way.
Also do you drive it without the 4 point on, if so does it hurt your back to have them behind you? I might wanna get one of them for the drivers side so i can be strapped in relaly good. I'm gonna hook it up the right way though.
Also could you give me a link to the page with the harness bar you were tlaking about? I would like to see it also.

I meant the sliders are bolted directly to the floor so they do slide.
pepboys still sells them as 3a racing I dont know what summit is doing but their the same seats tiny difference in price. pepboys also sell 2 othe versions of 3a racing seats that go for about 150 a piece i'll scan the newspaper ad when i get a chance. The seatbelts might work if you can removing the plastic case over it I'm gunna try to do that tommorow cus i really dont feel like spending 250 on a harness bar.

O yea its not the rollers that interfere its the reclining **** that interferes. Overall the seats fit like garbage and arent meant for our cars but i love them and are one of the biggest highlights of my car and most cars.

yeah you said it was the reclining ****, but you said something about bolting it to the floor right? Well that means they arn'ton rollers right? So if i put mine on rollers the thing wont be in the way, my seat is always a bit back than most, i'm pretty tall(5'11")

yea im 6'3 the seat is all they way back theonly way it would clear the seat belt bracket is if the back of the seat was almost touching the rear seats and i dont think most people could reach the gas pedals.

are you gonna make them able to use the stock seat belts then? Thats waht i need to do. But i'm gonna get the summit seast since they are more reaidly availible and are soposedly the same seat, also only $5 perseat for shipping. So $410 for 2 seast with shipping.

well i got an email back from summit and they said that they did get comments from people asking about camaros and firebird fitments. They said they will fit with tghe stuff that they come with, but need a lot of fabrication. Summit Sells mounting hardware, that makes them direct bolt ons.
I guess as soon as i get the cash i will be getting these seats and installing them. I'll make sure i post pics also. Its gonna cost me, $409.90 for two racing seats, with dual locking universal sliders.
Thanks,
Shane

They are not the same seats at all my man. They are 1.5in thinner. Which will make them be able to fit correctly.
How do know that? and what would being 1.5 in thinner have to do with them fitting better? THats one of the dumber comments I've heard from you.
BUt i made the stock seatbelts work i moved the seats back but killed any foot room in the back seats but can still fit back there with no shoes one. They arent direct bolt ins but can be made to fit. I cut the original seat mounting studs off the floor then lined up the seats where they fit good and drilled 2 holes in the front for t 2 bolts to go through the brackets. I had to dent the crap out of the passneger side floor pan to get the seats to mount close to level. I couldnt put bolts in the back of the brackets because the seats wont slide because the seats are to low to the ground and the the shape of the floor pan on each side. So pretty much the seats wont slide kill use of the back seats and I dont know which idiot at summit told you they sell mounting hardware to make it a direct bolt in thats just BS.

Hello. Here is some information on the seat you have requested. The seat is very universal.
SUM-G1155 has the following technical info:
* This seat does not include lower mounting brackets or adapters.
* At this time we do not offer any application specific lower mounting brackets or adapters.
* We do offer the "universal" lower seat mount brackets SUM-G1150 and SUM-G1151. This seat does have (single lock style) adjustable sliding rails already mounted to the bottom and has ***** on both the left and right sides for back angle/tilt adjustment.
- Height 37.5"
- Width across seat at widest point (outside) 20.25"
- Width across shoulder supports (outside) 20.75"
- Depth 23.5"
Mounting holes on sliders are elongated 5/8"
Measurements are center to center:
Front to back 11.50"
Left to right 12.25"
If I can be of further assistance let me know.
Thanks for your interest in Summit Racing,
Boyd

My question is about the new summit racing seats, SUM-G1155. From the looks of it they are exactly the same as the ones at pepboys, for $220, that will fit my car but will need major modifacation, and you cant use the stock seat belts. What i need to know is do you guarentee that they will fit my car, a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am. I need to be able to use the stock seat belts because my car cant use a 4 point.
One more thing, can you give me the dimentions of that seat, i need the width, height, depth or those seast to make sure that they will fit.
Thanks,
Shane

I have Tenzo Racing seats in my '87. They have sliders built in and the slider frame bolts directly to the floor. The lap belts for the five point harness are a little tricky to put on our normal floor bolts, but they DO work and they're solid as a rock. I have to agree with the tilt lever getting coverd by one belt but thats a small price to pay. Adjust you seat before you strap in. ( and especially before you start moving. haha) As far far as not wearing the shoulder belts. when you don't want to wear them, drape them over the top and behind the seat. You'll never know they're there. P.S. pics comin up soon.

well it dont say exactly direct bolt in, but if you look at their sliders, how could all them holes make it not fit? I mean you boltthem down to the floor, and bolt the other part to the seat mounts. Not a thing can go wrong, correct me if i am wrong though.

well those are the sliders, the ones he told me about in the email were not sliders seen here,
They are made to be able to work on thin tracks and wide tracks. The same thing with the sliders. I bet they will almost boltdirectly in d00d. And if they dont, i dont really care, more of adventure for me to make them fit, right? I think everyone likes spending time on their car to make everything work perfect. Even if it takes a day or two. Those mounts above, i guess you have to drill your own mounting holes for them. Thats what i guess though.

Guys, why don't you call corbeau and order the mounting brackets for the 82-02 f-bodies and adapt them to these seats.
the brackets can be modified to fit the mounting of the Summit seats very easily. I know the fourth gen guys say that the Forza's sit alot lower than the stockers.

um... ya..... 383 stroker kit for lt1 500 bucks?... wtfs? and... where are you getting lambo door kits(i'm guessing) for 440?... i mean.. shiznat.. if you found them for 400.. show me, i'll do it next week.(pay) and.. where did you find that price for lt1 stroker kit? i know.. speeomotive has some damn good prices on kits, & decent kits(least it looks it).. everywhere else i've seen is crazyly expensive.. they are cheap. lol.. but.. whew.. okie.. where you gonna get the lt1 from? ebay i'm guessing? or... you know someone w/ one?
thx
ohya.. w/ the seats.. they are nice.. but.. bleh, i duno, i sat in the ones at pep boys... you slide around WAY WAYY too much... i like the ones that are like the red one that someone posted a pic of.. i sat in it & couldn't move my butt or torso.. or upper body(chest area)... which.. personally, i like.. cuz.. well, heck, i love doing doughnuts, fishtailing,.. etc etc.. whiplash is my friend basically, & i hate sliding around, it keeps me from properly controlling the car.
anyhoo, cool.. & where'd you find that stuff at that price, lol.

Powerhouse has 383 kits for under $500. Don't know if I would use one but for a mild budget motor it may work.

Corbeau gets calls all the time from people trying to lie to them in order to get brackets, so they ask some detailed questions about your seats.
If you are straight-up and tell them "I have brand X seats, but would prefer to use Corbeau brackets", then they'll probably be very helpful.
Corbeau has also implemented a policy among it's retailers and restricts them from selling seat brackets by themselves. So, most shops won't sell you Corbeau brackets unless you buy a set of Corbeau seats from them. I have seen a shop online that is willing to sell the brackets alone, but they charge double the price.
Just call Corbeau directly and as I said be honest with them.

LT1- junkyard
and any small block chevy stroker kit is usable in an LT1 so boo ya!!!
The thing is, i'm letting go of the LT1 kit, because i'm gonna go regular 383, with LT1 intake conversion; That or a miniram. Whatever my tastes want.

Unless you have the fabrication experience nessecary to do this right. Pay the 64 bucks. and if you do, you wouldn't be asking this now.
BTW: If you guys will call www.usamotorsportsinc.com and ask them for the brackets they'll ship just the brackets.

What the? What kind of dumb response is that. If you did have the skills you wouldn't be asking? I asked for tips not a step by step instruction, I just bought 2 six foot peices of steel so I can make my own brackets, but I asked how much the corbaue's were I mean if they were like 20 bucks i'd rather do that since it will save me time. You should think about what you say before you jump to conclusions.
