Deja Vu-car just dies again-1 year later

I was going down west union and my car just died. It wouldnt crank back up either. So i pulled out the laptop and hooked up the datalogger. It wasnt saying anything was wrong. No codes or nothing. The check engine light was on though. So i tried to start it several times and sometimes it would start but it would barely idle and then die. Well reading the TPS the voltage was reading right but the TPS% wasnt going over .02 or .03%. So after someone came and helped(my dad) we went to the local parts store. Got back and they gave me the wrong sensor. By now its 9:00pm and pouring down raining. I call them and tell them not to close and i go get the right part. Put it on and still cant get anything to work. ALDL mon wouldnt work at all and ECM852 wouldnt work either. Tunerpro was the only thing working but the Idle Air Control, O2 and TPS are now reding way off. Then listening to the Fuel Pump it will come on sometimes and sometimes not. So after abotu 3hours of fooling with it in the rain i try messing with the datalogger again. Now it wont even connect to the ecm. I finally got it cranked but it would barley run and it will only crank under WOT. The odd thing is that this time last year it was doing the SAME EXACT THING. It turned out to be the ecm.

. This is my only car and i have no way to work, so i have to get it going somehow. If i get it going and home im going to rip everyething out that has anything to do with EFI and im going carb on my new motor.

Please help.

Plus i got tired of the laptop and i used a code key and jumped the terminals. I still got nothing. I didnt even get a code 12? or 14? saying that ecm was working.

Are you getting a Service Engine Soon light? Also I don't know if you are aware of it but there is an ECM CNTL fuse in the fuse panel. Have you checked them? Let me know and I will send you a trouble shooting chart for the ECM.

Trickers, you always come to my rescue. Thanks

Some times im getting a SES light and sometimes not. When i get it cranked and try to hold the rpms up the ses light will flicker on and off on and off randomly without a pattern.

I didnt know about the ECM CNTL fuse.

Plus just to clear this up, Is there a Fuel Pump Fuse and/Relay and if so where?

Yes there is a fuel pump relay located on the driver side firewall in the engine compartment next to the coolant fan relay. The 20 AMP fuse for it is loacted over near the battery, it is an in-line fuse in a black case. On my 89 Iroc it is located behind the right headlight.

Sweet Info trickster. Thanks Alot.

I just got back from fooling with my car. I installed a new ECM and everything worked great, EXCEPT my TPS%. B/c my TPS % wont go up when i give it throttle the inj. PW wont change so all i can do is idle. Do you know anything about that?

Which aldl definition are you using with tunerpro rt? There is one that reports the tps percent wrong on the $8d 1227730 ECM's.

Here is an updated version of the 1227730 Tunerpro Aldl definition
Right click and choose save as or else it will open as a text file in the browser.(at least with IE6)

I also left this exact reply under the DFI and ECM section

Thanks. I just got the car home. I had to nurse it about 15 miles but my PW still wouldnt go over .55 msec. I did pay close attention to my INT and BLM to make sure i dont lean the hell out of it.

What could possibly keep my PW from raising though? The whole way home at about 20mph with quit a few misses here and there it never not one time gave a ses light.

The low PW is has me lost.

Ive been fooling with it ALL day and had to miss work so im going to try the new ALDL Def. in the morning. Do they have a patch or anything for the IAT?

UPDATE!

Might have located the problem.

Im only getting 16-18psi. 42psi is what im supposed to be getting.

The fuel pump is not even 1 year old. But the funny thing is that Tunerpro is saying that im getting 14.8v +dc at my pump when my battery voltage is only 14.3v +dc. Bad relay?

I have seen pumps occasionally die in under an year (name brand or not). If its an internal pump always try to fill the tank at a quarter left to keep the pump in its cooling medium (the fuel). If its an external pump make very sure that there is no air getting in the suction side of the pump as that can create additional heat. Also make sure the fuel filter is not stopping up.

You can identify the fuel pump relay (or any other) by the wire colors in the connector:

The relays on my '86 LB9 are arranged like this:

Your's are probably different, however.
