I figured I would pass the word on incase this could come of use to someone in the need of a stronger rear end. What appears (to the best of my ability) to be a ford 9 inch, had the provisions for lca's, panhard rod, and torque arm. Unknown gears/condition, however I can tell you that spinning one wheel yields absolutely nothing on the other side.

Here is a picture of the car, appears to have been underway on a t top conversion (t top rpo was absent), and is immediatly to the left after you enter the yard. Along with the rear end, the car has solid motor mounts and a trashy custom exhaust (y pipe back). Oh, it had koni reds which I grabbed

Pick-a-part is a self service bone yard. You have to remove it from the car. Rear ends are about $150 at that yard.

I'm surprised Alex has not been there yet. He will need a rear end like that for his car. By the way Alex if you go get the gas tank and pump etc. Hehehehe.

Good score Brian!
I just picked up a set of rear 1991 Trans Am/GTA taillights in perfet shape (just needs those red decals on the back) for $35.00!
Got a rear hatch with tint, and the rear spoiler for $65.00 too!
Picked up a 24mm rear sway bar to. May get this one poweredcoated, and replace the painted one.
Oh ya, I also picked up another set of charcoal Diamond Spoke wheels. Put them on Lisa's car!
I keep looking for Konis, but I have never found them.
You get an engine swap yet?

George

Allen, Alex was there with me... we just really didn't want to go to the hassle of pulling and moving the sucker, not to mention the issue of transporting and storing it. It also doesn't help that they won't let you bring jacks into the yard, so that created a whole other issue.

Mike, thanks! I earned my friggen wheels.. Alex got off too easy on that one

George, thanks! You definitly scored yourself with those taillights.. people love them and will generally give a couple hundred for those suckers.. I've seen reproduction decals for those lights on ebay pop up occasionally incase you wanted to go that route. Yep, engine swap.. yep, much better than the six, lol!

If you find any 91-92 third brake lights, I need the silver piece the bulb pops into. Mine is broken.

I really don't understand why you didn't just cut the straps and take off a wheel, drag it out put the wheel back on.. Pull the car or truck up to the gate and load it up they have a hoist there and everything.. It only took a matter of fifteen minutes of time..

Don't let the known problems of what you hear doubt a 9" in a Camaro.. recently I have a understanding Ken has some clearance problems.. All set up correct it will work.. They already know the deal..

Brandon, I already mentioned why I didn't pull it, but I guess I'll elaborate..

1) I have a firebird at my disposal, that's it. I don't have the nicest interior around, but the last thing I want to do is haul a rearend; No matter how much stuff you lay down, it's bound to shift while being transported smearing gunk into carpeting and letting brake fluid drain.. Not to mention the risk of cracking interior panels or scratching/denting the car upon loading and removal.

2) I'm attentding physical therapy for a torn MCL in my left knee and I just recently got a cast removed for a boxers fracture in my left hand. I'm not in the best shape to drag around a rear end.

3) I have storage space, but getting the rearend there would prove difficult with steps, narrow passageways, and both together.

So, after going through that thought process, I took pictures of it and posted it here so others may benefit.

This is Brian right? Sorry to hear about your knee.. I had no clue you were in that condition.. Remember I don't get much news of anything from anyone.. So bare with me.. I feel you did a great thing and told everyone there was a
9" out there.. I myself would have not put that rear end in my car.. My car has to much value to myself.. But don't get me wrong my car has seen a 9 bolt.. and I have also taken Don out to pick up rear ends.. That's why I have a 3:45 now.. This is a lil far for Don to go help out.. But rare finds and what ever Don feels of it.. Having him do the swap.. Surely we can always ask him if certain things are possible..

Gene has a 9" in his car for drag racing.. So I know set up right there is no major clearance problems.. Street wise redo that part hitting the body and things should work out much better..

I was at the boneyard yesterday and it was probably one of my worst trips there in a long time. Went to both 'pick-a-part' yards in Wilmington (not ecology) and there was a pretty poor selection of thirdgens. Shoulda went to ecology or Santa Fe Springs, I guess...

Man, you guys are lucky out there by the coast.

Over here in the IE we get beat up junk that has been sitting in people's yards for about 12 years.

Atleast people over there take better care of their third gens.

The seat I needed I found out there in Riverside.. See the deal about the yards out here.. They destroy the interior and take basically nothing and throw all kinds of junk in them.. Just to keep the walk ways open and clean..
So actually those yards are good for hard parts.. Might find some good stuff here and there.. In fact I should have taken the rear bottoms of those seats as some extra's I'll never find any clean non greased seats around here..
