Fill er up, but uh, where??
I am going to put my new 9-bolt in sunday and I went to replace the fluid today but I cannot find the place to put the gear oil in.
In front of the pass. side axle tube, on the side of the diff. case, just above halfway up should be a square-socket plug. A 3/8 extension fits perfectly in there. Remove it, and fill the fluid JUST to where the fluid starts seeping out (on level ground).
Don't forget to put the plug back in!

9-bolts are supposed to have a rubber plug in the cover... if yours doesn't have that, then fill it up with the correct amount of fluid before you put it in.

The 9 bolt has a rubber plug on the rear cover. Fill it up until it runs out. Capacity is posted at www.9bolt.com

I don't see the capacity on your website. I am not in the mood to play right now. It is your website, and I understand that you want visitors, but just tell me how much freakin fluid to add. I looked there, I don't see it.

1.7qts and a bottle gm additive.
or you could just fill it till it runs back out the hole thats what i always do

and always make sure that you add a bottle of GM limited-slip differential additive when you change the fluid. Use GM only! (not sta-lube, not Castrol, etc.)

Just GM? Nothing else? I just got some from from autozone called trax something or another. Said it can be used on GM cars.

yes only use the gm limited slip additive, none of the cheap crap at parts stores will keep them quiet while turning, unless of course you like to hear clunking grinding noises from your car

No worries foney_ Sorry about the mess on my site. I'm working on a new design but just haven't had time to finish it yet
It will be layed out much better and will be easier to find information.
