Thirdgen Mid-Winter Bash? Ideas?
Well folks
winter is fast upon us and im starting to think we might just have to have a "its really $hitty weather get together so i get out of the $%#$ing house meet" <-----fit that on a bumper sticker :-)
#1
Now since the holidays are coming what do we do for a date?
we have T-giving towards the end of nov..
Christmas/new years end of dec and begin of jan..
My opinion tends to be that best date for a midwinter bash
would be sometime in mid/late january?(plus 2 mth advance
notice)
#2
What the h@ll we going to do?
What events are going on around that time or possibly before?
Doesnt even have to be specifically related to cars even as
long as its something cool most will enjoy?
Gather at a restaurant? world of wheels?(ughhhh) the
autoshow?
i dunno? tell me what u all think..............
members house for a project-pa-looza?
(who wants to pull a 3.8T?) :-P
#3
We need some ideas and suggestions.....
We need to hear what dates are good and whether a sat or
sun is better?
What are our options since the weather will almost definitely be
cold..................................spit it out and dont be shy :-)
#4
Once we get some ideas and decide, along with a ballparkish
date and/or weekend there will be a follow up sticky post just
as before with an official name/date/time and signup sheet :-)
later
Poor @$$ in charge :-)

It may not turn out to be much of a "third gen" meeting cause a lot of people put their cars in storage. I might have mine down for the winter to put on my new LT1 intake, possibly a cam and headers too.

hmm.....well jeremy my car is already down....lol It's been that way for a while now. Anyways the world of wheels would be cool only because i'm going anyways so why not get a group of people right??? Although last year it did SUCK i still found it amusing for $10. In other news my buddy just bought a 88 IROC for very cheap....we just picked it up today from IN no doubt. Hammond too
Metalli,
do you have a digital camera that we could take some pics of my car so I could post them....getting film and pictures developed is too much $$$$$.
as always,
Steve
PS If anyone ever wants to help wrenching in Orland Park, IL area I'm always looking

well steve,
i'm still waiting on you to bring on over the digital camera and to get that starter....so whenever you're around i guess. My friend let me borrow a set of IROC rims to put on my camaro for the winter since it's stored.....looks amazing on it. I use the factory 15" 84 rims on my 98 S-10 SS so i don't screw up my nice rims. Anyways whenever you're available to come on over would be great.

Gymnastics season has started for me, as well as DeVry. So my free time as of now is considered non-existant. That 2 month advance notice would be great.
My car is going into my dads garage and I'm going to start work on it. With free weekends few and far inbetween I'm not sure when I'll ever consider it truly "finished."
I'd be very interested though. Since I'm practically booked every weekend for the next 4 months its not when its convenient, but rather can I get enough advance notice to take the time off.
If I'm not at a Gymnastics meet, i'm going to be working on the car. If i'm not doing either of those you can bet I'm loaded with homework.

I don't know if you guys & gals knew that my dad is a member of the CATA ( chicago auto trade assoc.) You know the organization that holds the chicago auto show. We get way too many free tickets from them every year, so I'll supply the free tix. Let me know if anyone of you are interested. We can make it a day. The only sad part is that they don't send us a discount parking permit

Woohoo! Chicago Auto Show! I'd definitely be interested. You could have a raffle for it, or do first come first serve. Unless you somehow get about 10 or more free tickets.

If memory serves me right, i should be able to get enuff tix for everyone on this board with my eyes closed. We always got way too many tix for me to give out. So I'm taking orders now, so we could meet the weekend before to grab a bite somewhere and give the tickets. So I've gotten these people down so far:
Myself/ girlfriend- 2 tickets
Steve- 2 tickets
Matt- 1 ticket
FruityOne- 1 ticket
*any corrections let me know

I think the auto show falls around the end of the second week of February. I'll have tickets at the end of January.

According to the site, the show goes from the 14th to the 23rd of Febuary. Chicago Autoshow
I'd need to know pretty far in advance as both sectionals, and state for my gymnastics team is right in there. Gotta know if i can make it.

Hey no problem. I like hanging round you guys, even though sometimes it seems like i'm out in left field. I learn alot. So I"m thinking maybe the Saturday of January 25th? Hopefully I'll have the goods by then.
I'm gonna close off the deadline for tickets by New Years. So let Nikki, Nick, Brian (soulrev), Denny, Jeremy, Danielle, etc. Know what's up.

Jeremy and Nikki-
I will be in town(monon)
this weekend. Maybe we could get together. One of you two has to send me a pm, i can only reply to them, i can't send them? Shoot me a message and we can exchange numbers.
Talk to you later.

Aight people we got 26 tickets on the block. I don't wanna push the envelope on the availability of these tickets. I don't want to disappoint. So I'm bumping the cut off date up to Christmas. And if something comes up where i can't get the number of tix promised, Eveyone posting is guaranteed at least 1 ticket.
Hope to hear from everyone soon.

9d1, I hope to see you there. As I may be needing your help soon. ^_^ I'll have a actual TransAm to drive! Isn't that amazing! I have a few blemishes that are bothering the hell out of me. So I'll probably work on them after the car is *hopefully* done by mid january. Just in time for my birthday.

I haven't had people tell me I'll have drivability issues so I'm hoping for the best. I'll probably need new valve covers if the rockers are too big.
However, I'll actually have a car that i can work on in my spare time! I know the car has other little gremlins that I have yet to find, but I hope nothing too major.

Hey guys,
I might be interested in a couple of tickets too. My wife and I just bought a new Intrepid this past summer so we aren't in the market for a new car (Jeez, I hope not anyway!!!!) Anyway, let me know if tickets are still available and what the plan is.
Later!
'91 RS totally stock but still fun to drive!!!

No word on how many tickets I'll be getting. But I've closed the box office. Wow we got a lot of people going. So I'm gonna do the best I can but I think i'm gonna need to trim off some peoples ticket requests. And I don't wanna seem like a dick, but I've spoken/met everyone on this board but Deckman. So I'm gonna have to deny that request. I just don't wanna be taken advantage of, I'm just doing this stuff because I hope you guys are my buddies.

Hey, np slowmaro. If we gotta pay for a ticket, we pay for a ticket. We paid to get into Volo. Though volo was a bit cheaper than the auto show will be. ^_^ Hey what good is X-mas money if you don't spend it.

Push comes to shove you might have to. I'm hoping all turns out as I hope. I don't wanna come off as I'm just giving them to anyone. Like I said I've spoken to just about everyone, so I'm givin them to the people I know. Like you. I just don't wanna be used, because hopefully we can get a caravan goin and go all the same day.

It's just that in past incidents, people have been nice to me until they get what they desire, then **** off Dom. I don't hear from anyone again, unless of course another event comes up.
Let''s follow the lines that it's force of habit to say stuff like that. The auto show last year started around Feb 8th. And I think these tickets only go the first couple of days.
Oh, I love you too Steve

Well I got a $100 bonus from work, so i'm prolly gonna get my cold-air. Plus me and my bud that works for a parts wharehouse is gonna get me some hotter plugs and better plug, and he found a cheaper billet grill that I wanted for my ride. I found some ol' school badging for my car at chevy vette-fest. My friend Tom got me some interior paint from his dad's shop so i'm gonna dabble with that. So needless to say i'm in the process of building a fund.
You bet I'm coming out this spring/summer to cruise. It would help if you had a two-way radio. we could still B.S. while we're driving. How far are you on the 'maro?
P.s. Happy Holidays Everybody

Harlem and Archer huh? You're right by my work... I work at the Pizza Hut at 79th and Harlem.. if you've ever driven by you've probably seen my car out there.
ive probably bought food from you before, i love their lunch buffets, i dont remember seeing the car though, you should lemme know when youre workin and maybe i can swing by, i dunno if your car is in storage but mine isnt. i had a winter car but it died on me, i might buy an 83 bronco with a rebuilt 400 in it and 4wd for my future winter driving.
