They may still have NOS blocks (New Old Stock), but the blocks were originally produced from 70-80.

79 or 80 was the last year they produced a production block. You can still buy a 400 bowtie block which is a much better casting to use.

If your 67 bonneville has a chev 400 block in it then someone did an engine swap. Pontiac used their own engines back then. A Pontiac 400 is not a Chev 400.

I just checked my books. 1970-1980 were the production years for the 400 SBC.

The last 400 fitted block part# is 14008958 & has long been discontinued. You can buy 4.125" bore bare blocks through GM Perf Parts. https://www.spoperformanceparts.com/...html?CATID=628

World & Dart also sell similar blocks.

Ohhh yeah... I didnt even think about that. Its definetly the original motor. I just thought GM produced the same blocks for everything, but then the individual companies added their own goodies. Hey anyone wanna see a pic of my 400 can follow the instructions in the sig

If only!!!

There were 400s from Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, and Olds over the years. Absolutely nothing interchanges, except the points and the rotor, and the spark plugs in some cases. It was lunacy. We can argue all day long about which one was the best; but having 4 of them was certainly ludicrous.

Except in Canada. Our old 1964 Pontiac Parisienne had a 283 in it.

And don't forget that Cadilac produced beasts all of their own design. There was even a sepatate set of engines for Packard when they were still in business with GM.
