AWARDS, which ones

Lookin for some opinions for awards, for some plaques.

So far, I'm thinking

Best Camaro 1st-3rd
Best Firebird 1st-3rd
Farthest Driven
Youngest Driver
Oldest Driver

maybe for the track day, fastest overall ,
and for the dyno, car with the most HP.

any other ideas?

I'll have all the high rise people beat by 3.25 inches.......unless dude with the F40 wing shows up.....I'll win.......

On a serious note.......lowest mileage & highest mileage are definitly something that should be considered........

And possibly an award for "Best Restoration Job"....

You should also start by saying a limit of how many awards you are looking for, that way we can get a limit to get the best ones in there...........cause i can think of a whole bunch of awards......"Best interior".."Best paint".."Best stereo set-up".."Best engine bay"

I'm not sure on the limit, till I get an exact price on the plaques, just give ideas, just not so exact, like interior.

Maybe it should be farthest travelled instead of farthest driven. Some are coming from overseas.

there should be one for "kept most original"
for being in best and completely oem condition, with consideration given for year, and such

Come on farthest driven. lol

Anyway,
A few award idea's
Could we have sub categories, like best berlinetta, best T/A, best Iroc, etc. Then have an award of best 3 camaros, best 3 firebirds?

-I think there should be one for higest HP Naturally aspirated and forced induction one award for each.
- best 1/4 time.
-Who ever comes up with the T-shirt, if we have one, should win an award.

I did a pricing for small plaques a few weeks ago. it was like $9 and $14 for one alittle larger. both are with ingraving included.
they where ok, and nice to have. could also put a 1st 2nd 3rd on them or a big "2003"
one was something like 4x8 and another was 5X9 or something like that.

Voting...

We would need to get some sort of ballot going........cause there is no such thing as an impartial judge......

Yeah, I've thought of this a little. First off, the gathering back in '99, a few of the judges didn't show up on time, so I didn't want to put the judging in a few people's hands, unless I konw them personally, and aren't coming from afar.

I konw I could be impartial, but I'm sure I can't be the only one.

Maybe we'll set up a few ballot jugs or something, and just have people put a slip of paper in for each category (separate jug for each) and the person with the most votes that way wins....

at a mini bike show that i went to they did it this way
each bike had a coffee tin next to it.
and if you liked the car you would put a $1 in the tin. (all this was done to raise money for the march of dimes)
it's just an idea, I also think it should be modified some way to fit our needs.

Yeah I was sort of crazy there, but I thought those categories would sum it up better then who has the coolest strips, or can do the biggest brake burn.
As far as judging of cars, do it ballot, it would be easier and that way 5-10 people aren't stuck all day debating on the awards.

Idea... :lala:

On the front dash of every car should be...
Thirgen.org screename
Owners name
Owners location (city/st)
Email address
Misc. stuff

And everyone will get a paper with the award questions, and we can walk around and fill out our ballots and put the thirdgen.org/owners name on the ballots. But all ballots must be submitted by 6:00pm because the awards are at 7:00

just my .02

That is a great idea....and about 5 people can count the ballots and get a final tally.......

Do i need to put my screen name on my car?? Or do you guys think you will be able to pick it out the bunch.......

I hear that!

The plan so far:

Bedford to London Heathrow, 80 miles
Heathrow - JFK 3500 miles
JFK - Maryland (via pensylvania) 300 - 400 (i am guessing) miles

Total, 3980 - 4100 ish miles

Cant, wait!!!
as soon as dates are confirmed the tickets will be booked!

Actualy, there should be a furthest driven as well (or instead of, depending on the number of awards), as any fool can jump on a 747, driving from california would be a bit more of an achievement.....

Instead of most horsepower, how about most horsepower per cubic inch? Then have N/A, and power adder sub catagories?

Cool. I'm getting maps of New York, Pensylvania and Maryland from maps.com today so i can plan a route.

BTW, i once turned a 120 mile round trip into a 330 mile one by taking 1 wrong road!

what about charging like $5 to enter to compete for an award(s).. that would help pay for the expenses of the event..

I'd be afraid not many would want to enter then, not sure, I think charging everyone a flat $2 fee for ex, would pay for the plaques.
