modifying throttle linkage

I just got the Holley 670 cfm TBI for my 91 RS 305. While comparing this to my stock TBI, the throttle linkage doesn't look right. Do I have to modify this so that it will connect to the holley? I've searched around here but I haven't found any details or pictures on how this is done. Please help me.

Thanks

Rene

It's stupid how Holley does it. I'm not sure why they do it this way, they say it's a direct install when it isn't! You have a couple options, one is perfectly fine and the other is better. The "okay" way to do it is to just hook it up even though the throttle and trans lines touch under WOT. Remember, trans is the bottom, cruise is the second from top, and throttle is the top. The other options is to hack saw the top one off and drill it out then replace it on the other side with a standard carb linkage part. All in all it's a royal PITA and I think Holley should be held responsible for their stupidity.

Good question. At the time I didn't even think about taking it apart since it was brand new. I didn't figure it out until it was already bolted on and by that time I didn't care. I just wanted it to run.

Yeah, for a truck. I guess that's all they were designed for but it would have been nice if it was just a hole and they gave you a standard kit of throttle linkage parts so you could adapt it to anything.

I finally got around to installing my holley with the stock throttle linkage, it was a very simple swap. I just gound off the tab with a bench grinder of the the stock throttle linkage and took it off then i did the same for the holley. Then I just put the stock one on the holley, drilled and taped a hole in the middle of the rod and placed a little bolt with a washer to hold the throttle linkage in place. an it works great!!!
