New Pics Of My '88 V6 Camaro
Hey Guyz, after work today I stopped by where my Camaro is and took some pics of it in it's current state. Once it decides to get warm here in Indiana I am bringing it out to my house and the fun will begin! I get paid this week so I'm going to start buying some of the things I need! Oh ya, don't mind the flat rear tires.... it's been sittin for about 6 months and they need to be aired up then taken in to make sure they are still good!!
Let me know what you guyz think!

Well, it looks like a typical 15-20 year old thirdgen. I have quite a bit of body work to be done myself. The front looks good. Those steering wheels are horrible.
I have to say that color sheme is very unique for a Camaro, I like it.

Thanx for the replies guyz! HaHa, I wish my Camaro was on a commercial, that would kick major A**!! It does run, but the exhaust rusted out and fell off right before the catilytic converter, the radiator doesn't cool the car properly so it runs hot, and the fuel lines under the car spray gas all over. So I don't wanna drive it til I get those things fixed! But that will be soon, I think I'm gonna get a radiator this week, that'll start my collection of things! The Camaro will be out here at my house soon, my friend has a car trailor so I think we're gonna put it on that and bring it out once it gets warm. I can't wait!! It's gonna be awesome, I'll keep you guyz updated on the progress, and take lots of pics!!

Better then any "cold air intake" you can make! That is the intake I would have like to have, but a bit impossible on a Bird without using some major creativity.

Given its current condition, I'd say you would get NO more than 500.

I'd keep the SC and fix it back up since its been in your family since new. I'm bet it holds some sentimental value to your father.
I personally would offer around 500.00 bux for the condition of the SC right now. Especially with the fuel problem, and the rust and paint. You'd be better off fixing it back up and Plus that is very fun to do

I'm replying to the "see anything that needs to be replaced?" question-
One part you don't want to have take a crap on ya is the heater diverter valve. Find it in your passenger-side of engine compartment picture. It's a little below the alternator, and between the strut tower... near the coolant bottle. Has a vac line going into the top, and three heater hoses from the bottom. The sucker is some kind of fiberglass plastic material. The hose on the side, pointing to the engine, likes to snap off the valve and spray coolant everywhere. Ithink it's a $15 part , can't remember.
You don't need it, either. It started in '87. was meant to make the a/c cooler in hot months. It prevents coolant from going tothe heater core if the air conditioning is on. (heater core heats up the firewall box where your a/c is.) But 82-86 didnt have the heater diverter valve. Yank the sucker, plug the vac line up with a golf tee or a big screw, and run heater hose (one 5/8inch and one 3/4 inch) from your water pump to your heater core in the firewall.
Other than that, looks like all it needs is some cleaning with regular 'ol car wash and a sponge that you don't mind throwing away, and the motor should clean up good. Looks like it's just dust on it. I like the car, looks like a lot of little things are wrong; nothing big; should keep you busy wihtout frustratign the hell out of ya.

It seems everyone has a Fiancee now
I wish I could find a nice camaro to buy around here like yours 88CamaroKid. I mean a little surface rust, probably some basic work needed. But the car has tons of potential. Have fun.

Avoid getting anything electrical wet.... distributer and alternator most importantly. Oh nd I highly recommend Simple Green for cleaning under the hood.

Hey guyz! I went and bought a can of Engine Degreaser to use on the Camaro when it warms up! Its finally startin to.... so I'm hopin to have it out here by Spring Break... which is in 2 weeks! Since I'm not doin nething special that whole week.... I think I'll just constantly work on the Camaro and try to get a lot of things done!!
What should I start with?! I mean.... I need to do alot of things, but where should I start?! I know I'm gonna rip the exhaust off, prolly get rid of the fuel lines that are leakin, take the radiator out, degrease the engine, maybe sand out the rust on the body, clean up the interior, hopefully get all my parts, and get her runnin soon! Long List... but I love my Camaro so it will all get done!!
Well..... let me know where you guyz think I should start with my projects.... thanx a lot!!

I have a laundry list of what my car(s) need. The biggest thig to remember is -- DON"T START A NEW MISSION UNTIL THE FIRST ONE IS DONE. Now, let's move on to what to attack...
Below is a list of what I use as a guide when faced with an insurmountable list
1. Fix anything that is hazardous -- (Fuel line)
2. Focus only on the items that are needed to make it a RELIABLE ride -- radiator, tune up, or any sensors that are turning the SES light on. Focus on the perspective of getting it to a point where ANYONE would feel confident in driving it.
3. Anything that will make it look half-decent. Fix any major ugly spots but don't go all out.
4. Performance modifications -- Tis better to have a ratty car that will cook r!ce than to have a beautiful car that can't get out of its own way.
5. Beautifying things -- make it look real good.
Some last words of wisdom. Don't get discouraged if you don't complete everything you want to. Almost all the time a project will take ten times longer than originally planned.
Example -- I was expecting my steering box swap to take three days from start to finish. I ended up re doing the timing cover gasket and resealing the front of the motor. Between that and having to order parts, the project took two weeks. however, I fixed some additional problems and will have a better job done when I finish it tonight.

Sup Guyz?! I guess you could say I'm in a Great mood today... my dad and I got the Camaro out here today! It's sittin in the yard! My dad woke me up early and told me that we were goin to get it, so we went and put the battery back in (had to charge it overnight), then it fired right up!! Since the exhaust rusted out before the catilytic converter.. all the exaust was comin out right before it, and damn was that v6 ROARIN! I loved the sound of it when my dad got on the gas haulin down the highway! But I got some new pics of it as of TODAY, so I guess I'll put those in a new post... I can't wait to get all the parts.... I get paid this week so hopefully I'll have enough to be gettin some of the stuff I need!
Just thought I'd let ya guys know.... my Camaro should be road worthy here in a few weeks!!!

I remember doing the same thing as you two years ago.
Getting outside, playing with the car. Adding all the parts needed, adjusting brakes, runing new lines fixing gas leaks, putting in the new I-pipe, and taking it for short drives up and down my dirt road making sure every new thing replaced was working fine.
