90 Iroc Dual Cats L98 - Adding SLP 1 3/4's & Eliminating cats..

Ok, my car doesnt need emissions so i want to pull the cats off when i do my header install. i am getting the slp 1 3/4's, but i don't know if i should buy the single or dual cat setup. I don't know what would be the best way to run it, since i am removing both the cats. Anyone done this and have pictures or ideas of how i should do it? Thanks in advance.

did you have to have a y-pipe made for it? Hows does it sound without the cats? you have any audio clips?

thanks alot for the pics. it is going to be hard for me to get someone to weld the pipes where the cats were. none of the shops will touch my car if i don't have a cat on it.

slp comes with a y-pipe already

i just needed to go from the end of those to the f-pipe which goes into the I-pipe.

it sounds pretty good.

Get the slp single cat headers because they come with a complete y-pipe. Then you have to get a pipe made to go where the cat would have went. I think the dual cat headers only come with pipes that come from the collectors to the cats. Go to www.slponline.com and you can look at the pictures of what they both come with.

If I didn't have to run cats I probably wouldn't because a straight pipe is always going to flow more than a cat. But running no cat is going to be louder. I have a 91 z28 with dual cats and I put on slp 1 3/4 with single cat with a carsound cat . I think one 3" cat will flow just as good as two 2 1/4" plus it was a lot cheaper.

Also, you could get a cat and have connectors put on both sides and have a 3" pipe with connectors and switch them out.

man i am really indecisive about this. i want to run with no cats, but i don't know anyone who welds that could help me do the install. I guess i could just get the dual cat setup, and then get 2 high flow cats. but i would much rather take them off completely.

damn why do our cars exhaust system have to be so gay. i mean the the single pipe up and over the rear end has to be the dumbest exhaust possible. why don't they just make the pipe wrap around the rear end 6 or 7 times....

Do you have any exhaust shops around you? Just get a 3" straight pipe welded in from the single cat y-pipe collector to the intermediate pipe.

Get the single cat y pipe and on the end of the y pipe get a flange welded on. Then get a flange welded on the cat. then get a flange welded on the intermediate pipe and on the other side of the cat. get a piece of straight pipe the same length of the cat and get the same type flanges welded on both sides. then you could pull you cat out and put in a straight pipe
