which panhard rod and LCA's to buy

I am planning on getting a new panhard rod and control arms here soon. I would like to buy them all as a set. please give your opinion on which ones are the best for mainly street use but can eliminate wheel hop with a 450 h.p. motor. I was leaning maybe toward Hotchkis.

Bigger is not always better- Go to Spohn's chromemoly arms. Lightweight and you will never break them.

You guys are calling for the big guns. No stone unturned under here, you name it, it has it- optimum for my specs and use down to the aftermarket brake setup- even custom wheelstuds and lugs. Note that theres an ACPT carbonfiber driveshaft hidden under there also! And the 10 bolt has been modified plenty for my road track setup. 'Nuff said?

ps flashy red colors are for girls:nono: buy some black spray paint.

Ahhhh yes. A man after my own heart I have always subscribed to that theory myself..... that is "walk softly and carry a big stick" And of course I did know.... just givin' ya the "gears"

And I will agree on the "auto for the street car" theory also. Makes driving in traffic more bearable. AirCon and a great stereo help there too

So - now that we all have gotten way off topic here..... This is my recommendation for your rear suspension parts transam84:

Rear Trailing Arms (A.K.A. - L.C.A.s) Spohn Poly/RodEnd combo - these are the best performance arms for the street - as they also keep things quiet.

Panhard Rod: Spohn - pick one. The ultimate is the rod-ended version.... but any of them will be a vast improvement over stock.

Want more traction off the line? Pick up a set of the Spohn LCA relocation brackets while you are there. These really do work. Do a search if you want to know more about them.

I looked into this a while ago and alot of people on the board support Spohn products but Chevy High Performance did an article on thirdgens a couple years ago and they competely redid the suspension with Hotshkis parts and did testing for every mod and it showed nice numbers. I checked up on the Hotchkis parts and tried to do the same with Spohn but no one ever replied to my email so even though it will cost a little more I think I will be picking up a full set of Hotchkis parts.

A lot of mags will do upgrade articles on cars using a certain brand, I.E. Hotchkis, Edelbrock, and Baer to name a few....just look at the last few issues of Car Craft to see this.

They do this for one reason: Those parts are FREE!!! They'd have to actually BUY Spohn's parts. The mags get the parts, they do well, the company gets more sales from guys like you who read them. Please don't think I'm bashing you here, just making a point. Hotchkis, Baer, and Edelbrock all have great parts and have proven history. However, I'd be running all the Hotchkis stuff I could get if it were given to me to "test".

If it's worth the extra cash to you, then go for it. Personally, on the topic, I'm running all BMR LCAs and adjustable panhards...I got a deal that I couldn't pass up, and I am very happy with them. Otherwise, I'd have Spohn.

Sorry Steve..

Whatever you decide...

No matter what you decide to go with, check out ebmiller88's step by step instructions on installing your rear set up. Thanks Ed. You unknowlingly contributed to this:

OH!! Almost forgot. If you'll look at the picture posted above, you'll see how easy Steve's panhard is to adjust...it's all out in the open. My BMR bars have two adjusting nuts on each end, and I can only get to one of them with the bar installed. I have to take one end loose to adjust it. Spohn has a leg up here. I'd check to see if you would have the same problem with the Hotchkis rods and then decide.

ebmiller88 the bmr panhard bar i have has the adjustor in the middle, poly poly ends and red powercoated chrome moly. I think b/c your isnt chrome moly thats why the adjustors are at the ends. I have bmr bolt in relocators, xtreme lower control arms , and a chrome moly adj panhard bar , the stuff is all top quality and im happy with bmr, next year im gonna get a bmr wonderbar and bmr sway bars .

I am not brain dead here. I know Spohn is a sponsor here. I am not going to buy spohn just b/c he is a sponsor of this site. I want to buy something that fits my needs, not the sponsors needs. I like that panhard rod b/c of its easy adjustability. I have not seen another panhard rod like that one yet, most adjust on both ends but not like the Spohn rod does. I am for sure going to get the Spohn torq arm and prob now the panhard rod. am I now supporting our sponsor enough???

BMR released a new style panhard bar out that fixes this issue. http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F3-suspension.htm

That's pretty niffy too. I just got my used Lakewood from UPS today, I'm excited even though its not as nice as some of the Spohn products.
