still have some strange noises
after i installed all my new suspension parts, i noticed a new noise that sounded like something loose in the back when i hit bumps or crappy roads. so i made sure everything was tight and what not and it still makes this noise. I think it might be the springs moving around when the rear drops down into a pot hole or something like that. When i jack up the car and let the rear hang they aren't loose though, that is the confusing part. any ideas?

Get used to it. I have dealt with mine for over 2 years now and I still can't find it. I am going to take the rear springs and shocks out and start all over. I will grease and allign everything. I can grab a spoke of my wheel and shake the car and hear the rattle. it sounds like the rear is comming off. I now have a mistery rattle that I have in my 4th gen that has a BONE FREAKIN STOCK suspension. It rattels more on smooth roads. These cars are wierd.

mine souns like the rear is super loose when I hit some bumps, other times it handles them like a champ. I think i might put the stock springs and lca back on just to see if that fixes my knocking noise on bumps and the loud whining around 40-50 mphs.

Check the trailing arm bushings, Sway bar end links, and upper shock bushings. If worn out (or broken in the case of the end links) all will do exactly what your describing.

Are you running heims on the trailing arms? If so, they do wear fast on the street. Best to stick with the better quality heims for street or race use. Like QA1's or Aurora's. They cost 3 x's as much but last 3 times as long and are much stronger in a 3pc design than cheap 2 pc heims.

also, the endlinks are brand new, with new poly bushings, and the shock bushings are new along with the new shocks, the only thing that didn't get replaced where the spring isolators. but they were in decent shape. The last time i checked everything for thightness, the only thing that i could even move was the endlinks, but now everything that i can get a wrench on is tight.

I have to get use to the lingo around here.
Heims = spherical rodends
trailing arms= LCA's (should be RCA's, that's Rear Control Arms. we have no uppers on a 3rd generation f-body car)

gotcha,
nope, just adj lca's with poly bushings, I was actually considering taking out the adj lca's and springs and putting back in the factory lca's and springs to see if the knocking/rattling noise and the humming noise between 40-50 would go away. not sure if i'm actually going to do it because it would be a lot of work for just a little experiment that i think i know the answers to anyway.

read my response here tht I wrote explaining spring alignment
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=211583
Check that out and see if maybe the LCA's have to be shortened in length using the adjustments. THe springs could be rubbing.
As for the whinning noise? it could be just gear noise that will sound louder at certain speeds. Does it whine at very high speeds?

I'm pretty sure the whining noise is from the poly bushings, which is why i want to stick the factory lca's in there, I'm pretty sure that the springs aren't rubbing because i had the wheels centered in the wheel wells. but, I guess i'll double check to be sure.
The thing that sucks is, after finally dropping a grand for parts for my car, it seems like all i have is problems, because to go with these noises i have another thread going with my alignment woes.
sorry had to vent.

today i put the old lca's back in and it got rid of the loud humming whining noise around 40 mph, it is still there, but not as noticable, the poly bushings were definetly the prob there, as for the springs when i had t he car jacked up by the frame, i could move the springs around, like spining them on the axle, that is prob the noise i'm hearing on crappy roads, the springs moving around. what can i do about that?
