Front end sanding

I am working on a New Front End I got to make my sport coupe a little nicer lookin, and it has a few problems. Im sanding, and it has black paint on top of red, so i sanded the black off, but in some really chipped up areas, it seems lke the black is under the red too... Is there anything like bondo that I can use on urathane? I hear bondo itself is bad because it doesnt flex. Should I chemically strip it? If so what should i use?

Should I chemically strip it?
whatever you do...don't do that!....that would eat the urethane for sure. I would keep sanding...but not with anything to harsh. If it has actual chips in the urethane....I guess you could try some glazing icing...I've done it before..I mixed it...then applied it with a razor blade on the little chips...it worked great..and I really didn't even have to sand the area down much because it filled the chip right in.

When I stripped the bumper cover on my RS I went at it with 80 grit on a DA and didn't look back.. Took about 2 hours to get it where I wanted it. Then I hit it with some 180 and then primered it with some primer-surfacer.

Sorry for the crappy quality and the battery low thing, heh... but Here is what i did today, it seems a lot nicer. What is the best kinda filler to fill in deep chips ect? So there isnt some kind of urethane safe paint stripper? lol

3M makes a 2 part epoxy just for fixing parts like this. I just usedit to fix a huge tear in the center of my son's chin spoiler on his 87 iroc. You just mix the epoxy and apply like any body filler and sand it down in stages. Should be available at your paint supplier. Works like a charm.

Is there any point in primering it? Also it has the GFX that goes along it and to the fenders, I hate my current nose, and I feel like puttin this one one soon. It would look wierd with no GFX because bolt holes along the bottom, but With it would look wierd, anyone have opinions on that

Once you have fixed it you'll want to primer it and make sure to use flex additive in your primer then block it down like any other part..

not flexing ive seen fenders crunched like an accordion with bondo on them and the bondo stuck to the panel and bent with it and never break. alot of it has to do with how thick you apply it ..............sorry about the double post i hit the wrong button on accident

Tonight I finally applied my first coat of paint! I need more layers to cover up the marks






Between Layers I sand with 400 Grit dont I? Wetsanding is just gettin it wet with plain water and sanding correct? Is that what I gotta do? Still wet in those pics BTW, lol

I think you forgot to use primer....
No kidding...
With translucent (sp?)/opaque (metallic) paints, the base color or primer has to be a solid,uniform color or else you'll need 600 coats of paint to make the 'color' thick enough to hide what's under it.
