The 2nd edition of the firebird red book also says that the 350 5.7 L98 was available in 86.:lala: .It also says that only 26 1986 trans am's got the l69 v8 due to it having fuel boiling problems?
Is this true anything else wrong in this book.?

Smog purposes? There isnt any tech that I know of that is going to check the casting numbers on the block. Call it a 305.
BTW, for those that insist that these cars exist, where are they? I own a '1 of 50' car myself, and I have seen several of the same kind for sale. There are rumored to be 3 1986 ASC converted TA's in existence, I have seen 2 of the 3 for sale at one time or another. There are 8 1969 TA convertibles (2 of which are probably long gone), I've seen one of them. None of these '50' 86 350 Iroc's have been seen by anyone here whether for sale or not, even by people who are looking specifically for them. Ever wonder why?

im not stupid. i know i can call a 350 a 305. i can call a 400 a 305. no one can tell, or for that matter, get out a mirror and check. that would waste time and time is money. its just piece of mind.

I think the "50" 86 L98 cars were nothing more than 305 cars that had the L98 swapped in. No different than swapping in a big block. They weren't original. We all know that. They were tested, and scrapped.
...just like a HUGE number of other GM one offs.
