I finally got my Iroc back...Very upset. (long)
Well, for those who didnt know. My car was towed from my apts Jan 3rd....
I finally got it back, but not without alot of problems.
I went down to the "towyard" on friday after learning that in the state of arizona, they can NOT keep your car. Or "hold it hostage" as the police told me. No matter how much they try to charge you, if you go to pick it up, they can not keep it.
So i spent about 5 hours on friday dealing with these peoples bull****. I went down and told them I wanted my car. The lady at the front desk told me, I had to wait for her boss to get in because she couldnt authorize a "no pay" release. After arguing with her for about 20 minutes I finally agreed to wait 45 minutes for her boss to get in. He gets there and I tell him why I am here, and she tells him, "He's a no-pay." So he asks for the title, but my original title was in the car when it got towed. The only title i had was the old one and it was in my moms name. My name was signed on the back, and it was notarized. He tells me, i cant accept this. So i ask him, can i go out to my car and get the title out of it. He says no, i cant let you go back there without the title. He then tells me to goto DMV and have a copy made or bring my mom down there. My mom wasnt too far away so I went and got her. I was extremely pissed already. So i get back there with her and after going through a bunch more of this guys BS, he tells me, "Oh it can take up to 24hours to get your car depending on where it is at in the yard". I said i wasnt leaving without my car and told him I would call the police. They left us sitting around for about 45 minutes while they were "looking" for my car. Finally they tell me i can go get it, and i see it is sitting right inside the front gate. In plain view.
Then they tell me they wont let a tow truck go on their property so i would have to get it off their property first. Now the car has a flat tire and is in gravel, so i figured i would just drive it on the flat a few feet off their property. I go to the car, but it has no power. I figured it had a dead battery from sitting. I open the hood and see that my battery has been stolen. I then look inside and see my stereo has been ripped out of the dash and all my wires are cut. I look in the back and my speaker box and my amps are gone too.
Lets just say i was beyond mad. When i ask this guy about it he asks me, "are you sure they were in there??"......
I almost punched the son of a b****!
I called the cops and they told me that the company IS liable for everything. But it will take awhile to get my stuff replaced.
So now i had to figure out a way top get my car off their property in less than an hour bfore they closed. We tried pushing it but it was impossible in the rocks with a flat tire. I finally told them i was coming back saturday with the police, and the lady got real nice and told me she would come early saturday morning and let me get a tow truck in.
Saturday i went down and picked the car up. And now it is back in my apts. After looking through the car more, i realized my title was gone, a bunch of tools, and my lock for my wheels. So its sitting in my apts again, with a flat tire still.
But....atleast it's home.
Sorry such a long post.

Sorry such a long post.
After my tranny busted for the 3rd time in 2 months, i had no $$ left to fix it again, so it sat in our covered parking spot in my apts.
It also had a slow leak in the drivers front tire.
We moved into a new apt (in the same complex) on Jan 1st. The car wasn't able to be moved yet (flat tire), and i guess the ****ers called and had it towed on the 3rd because they thought it was abandoned!
They could have just told us to move it, but nooooo....
So i had no idea how i was going to get it back from the towyard, and it sat and sat and sat. They were telling me i had to pay over $1000 in storage fees. But i called the police and learned that in Arizona, they HAVE to give you your car. So i went and got her. :-)
I think while they were supposedly "looking" for my car in their huuugge lot, they were actually stealing my stuff. They will pay though.

Yeah,
at least the law was on your side in this one. Do you eventually have to pay them for them impounding it still? Give me a call sometime and we'll go do doughnuts in front of their building

I found out later the police were only there because someone else called them becaus ethey wouldnt give him his car. lmao.

And if your state doesn't require you to keep the title with you (as far as I know, NYS doesn't), keep it somewhere safe. Mine is in a "fireproof" box in the house.

Nor your registration and insurance card. NYS says you must keep it in the vehicle, and a lot of my friends keep it in there like it says. This way if the car is stolen the thief also gets your home address as a bonus. Keep it all in your wallet.

you keep the registration and insurance in the car.... in the off chance that someone else drives it.
and so what if they have your home address?? i dont see your point with that? i have YOUR home address.. i can get anyones address.. its public info.
then again (and im not special, i just know where to look) if i can get your name, or address or any other way to trace ya, i can get your SSN, and possibly some other info.
you keep your insurance and registration in the car... title OUT. no state requires you to have your title in the car.. matter of fact, SC titles have a lil thing printed on the back saying to keep it out of the car in a safe place.
on a side note, report the title STOLEN to the DMV ASAP... you'll get a new title, and they'll know theres a stolen copy out there somewhere.

Just how I was taught. Guess it made sense till you put it like that.
Besides if I didn't have that stuff in the car, how would they get it otherwise assuming I have nothing in my car with my name on it? I doubt a thief would stand on line at the DMV (then again...) to get my name from the plate #s.
