I went with the R/A I hood........

I ordered the R/A I hood from Rex about a week ago. I thought it went better with the lines on my 86 T/A than the more aggresive R/A II hood. He said I should have it this week. The free drawing every month is awsome. Question on the fiberglass hoods, Do you need to install insulation on the underside, like the original? Also do you use the original hood supports with fiberglass? They seem kind of stiff??? I hope to have pictures of the installed hood soon. Thanks.......

ok i got the answers on this one. No you dont need the insulation , i didnt notice any difference with out it, but i also have a loud car so i dont mind. THe struts you either need ones that are week and wont hold a metal hood up . Or do what i did and go to gm and buy hood struts for a 82 camaro with a fiberglass hood.

I am using the original shocks, but I am really carefull when I open and close the hood.

RA 1 is a good choice.

I just got my free raffle hood from Rex, and I am very satisfied. Nice white gel finish, just a few small places to touch up, but it is an awsome hood. Going through the process of fitting it in place. Its not that far off, and I think some of that may be due to 18 year old hinges that have some play in them. I am also going to open the back of the hood up next to the wipers, as this area is closed and make the air inlets (nostrils) in front functional for a good air flow front to rear. If anyone else has done this please reply. Thanks again to everyone and once again Rex:hail:

Excellent choice on the RA1 hood. I prefer it over the RA2....

Scott, is that insulation on the underside of your hood? what type is it? It looks like the heat shield/ sound proofing type used on interiors. Looks good and I like the way you opened the front for air flow. Thanks for the comments....

good choice, the RAI looks like it belongs on third gen TA's.

the RAII on the other hand i think looks like pure ***, its so out of place, it doesn't flow with the car at all, just two out of place scoops.

either way, it should looks great
