urgent help needed PLEASE

okay i got off work from the haunted house that i work at so i went to leave, i started my car, backed up and it stalled, okay...

put it in park tried again, it was turning over but was not starting, the starter sounded weird and eventually stoped working all together, like i would turn the key and nothing would happen.

so i walk back to the house talk to some people, grab a hammer and attempt to hit the starter with it but realise the exhaust is in the way and couldnt hit it hard enough..

so is this the starter?

i mean the car was trying to turn over and i heard the exhaust a little bit but it was not starting, PLEASE i need help..

my car is about 25 miles away from home and im probably going to have to do the work on it in the parking lot where its at (fun..) but please, give me some advice..

Sounds like your battery is dying...how old is it?

Might also check tightness of both battery cables at both ends.

Take your old starter with you, for two reasons:

1.) They can test it on their bench to be sure it's really dead.

2.) No core deposit needed.

I've seen batteries so dead even a jump won't turn the starter...you haven't completely ruled out the battery yet. Take the battery to the store too and ask them to load test it.

thanks man, im curently trying to avoid taking off the starter right now because it DOES crank, the belts move, so i mean the engine IS turning over, i was told it could be my coil, since i sprayed the **** out of the intake with starter fluid and it didnt help at all, it could be the fuel pump and i really hope to *** its not, i was told how to test to see if the gas lines have pressure and such.. so what im going to do is wake up tomorrow morning, buy a coil and get my *** working, please tell me if you have any other ideas...i need this car fixed ASAP :|
oh yeah, im also testing to see if the spark plug wires are even sparking with a pair of insulated pliers

another thing, could my check engine light read out thing tell me whats wrong? im not exactly sure what holes to put the paper clip in and i dont know how to read the blinks, so it would be nice if i could be pointed in teh right direction for that, thanks
once again, you guys saved me and my car, thanks

1. air
2. gas
3. spark

Here's the chronology, just so you see why I'm pretty sure I can't help you...

First it was the starter not turning the engine...

Then again the starter not turning the engine...

And look here, another starter not turning...

And now suddenly...

You're not making it easy to help you. You never answered my question about how old your battery was, haven't had it load tested, so I'm checking out.

yeah and ive determined its something electrical, 99% its the battery, i havent got it tested because its bolted into my car and i didnt have the tools to pull it and bring it ot autozone at the time, in fact im leaving to do that now, so if its not the battery, then im thinking maybe the coil, since i just replaced the cap and rotor, im going to also do a spark test to see if my plugs are working, thanks.

If its cranking, it probably isn't the battery. You need to check some ignition components (module, coil, etc).

When you turn the key and the starter cranks, what happens to the lights on the dash?

Does your tach move at all while cranking or is it dead-sitting on zero. If the tach does not move, it may be the ignition module and the motor is getting no fire. Good luck. You say it is turning over, so that would rule out the battery and the starter.

must be the starter...

replaced the coil, battery and used about a whole can of starting fluid, and then the engine stoped turning over while the starter spun free, yay i found the problem.. now lets just hope the flex plate isnt gone

If the motor was turning then it wasn't your starter.. After cranking like crazy, you might have to add starter to your list, but only because you probably killed it. You will still have a problem once you put another starter in it.. Check the ignition module.
