Yep, going back tonight. More WOT tuning is gonna be happening.
Also made a small mod. Cost $10. One thing, not built, simply replaced one part.
See you guys when I get back @ midnight, EST.

(j/k). If you could get traction, I could EASILY see mid -high 14's for the turbo. Gte the 60's down to about 2.2 or better, and it will happen. Thread Starter

That, and the MSD box, are my next two things. I'll also save up for some Spohn LCA's, as well.
So yes, 3 things going in, together.
Oh yeah - might have the hookup on a free diesel turbo. No idea what it is, only that it's "much bigger than the one on your car" - FOR FREE. BRAND NEW IN BOX.
Well, not really free, he wants me to help him tune his '88 GTA 350 TPI - which I outran, btw. (15.3 vs 15.5)
Also stomped on two RSX type S (yes, the real deal).... what's bad about the RSX kills - I pulled them after the first 330' foot. I thought the Type S was all about that top end, yo?
Also beat -
1 '88 GTA
2 RSX Type S
1 older ('93?) Honda Hatchback with a VTec swap + 75hp shot of Nitrous
Hmm... those are the ones I can think of, off hand. The guy in the staging lanes was a *****. Yelling at us that he was going to tow our cars, because we weren't RIGHT NEXT to them. WTF - the lanes were going NO WHERE. We came out to have FUN and check out other gearhead's CARS. But yeah, started on my friend Evan there (50trim T04e on a '02 Honda Hatch VTec - runs 13.7 @ 106 mph) about how 'the **** burners need to have their own nights' and that 'they probably had it all given to them by mommy and daddy' etc. Then got to witness their mighty 305 (probably) in a '72 Chevy (not sure exact year or model) run a mighty 14.9
All in all, I'm pissed, but I did break the 98mph barrier I set for myself.
And still, more tuning to come.
Dyno Day on Dec 4th, now, btw.

Doward thats not fair! LoL, 98mph is about 3 or 4mph slower than I expect to trap with my modded 350tpi. Thankfully I have a converted LT1 intake to go on there soon and take care of that pesky no top-end TPI problem
Sadly, I will miss the beautiful TPI. But I don't look the engine when I drive.
Great job man, 98mph is insane for that 3.1L. I don't think many people ever expected you to go so fast, or get so far with this project. You make me feel like getting a 3.1L v6 bird in nice shape to play around with.

You almost cracked into the 14's, running 4 mph slower in the traps than your second run! You're there man...just gotta get the hookup. What'd you do that second run, wind it up, dump it, and hope it'd grab? Then start kicking yourself when you spun all the way through the 60'?
Also I'm assuming youre running street tires....whatcha got in your rear? Size, and what make/model tire? I've got a good hook-up on prices working at Tire Kingdom...
Bang up job man....let me know in advance next time you're making a trip up to Speedworld... Maybe I'll jump in the Rustang and make it up there, see the turbo in action.

From what i remember Doward has just been hammering it and letting it spin for as long as it wants. That way it launches roughly the same for every run.
He's not looking for times, just trap speeds.

Actually guys, (I keep saying this!) If I were to just sidestep the clutch.... actually, hell, let me tell you how my 'burn out' works.
Place it in 1st gear
Foot COMPLETELY off the clutch
rolling about 5-7 mph.
Floor it.
The car stops ALL FORWARD MOTION. We're talking straight-to-7000rpm-rear-tire-burnination. Oh yeah, I apologize to everyone - my car DOES NOT HAVE A REV LIMITER. Evidently, it WAS valve float @ 6300 rpm. I went somewhere north of 7000rpm on that burnout. I was just wanting a little spin, instead, turbo spooled, and TOO MUCH POWER AT ONCE. It was awesome.
Nope, my 3.15 60's are caused, because I'm launching as tho I'm at a stoplight with 16 warrants out for me, and a cop behind me, and a cop beside me, lol. In other words I'M LEAVING EASY! Why? Because 1st and 2nd gear are totally worthless.
Nothing but wheelspin @ WOT.

i cant wait to see what a turbo set up on my built 3.4 is going to do, isnt your 3.1 pretty much stock?

nice trap speeds, but bad 60' times. But I do understand why!
Pills, no hes not on stock 3.1. Bottom end is basically rebuilt stock. Top end is heavly ported, mtc-5 cam, stock rockers, ported intake.

Couple of things Doward-
First, I know Spohn LCA's and stuff are nice, but you can box your LCA's with six bucks worth of metal from Home Cheapo and a welder.
Secondly, I don't know what kind of tires you are considering but here's my take on Drag Radials.
They are designed for cars that have to run a DOT type tire in certain classes. A lot of people buy them for their street cars, but if you actually drive your car on the street to work and back every day they will wear out in a couple thousand miles- the tread they do have is very shallow, very bad in rain!
I would just buy a set of real wrinkle wall slicks and mount them on some spare rims, and throw them on when you get to the track.
I nearly donated you a pair of 16" BFG drag radials- I was in the Tampa area last weekend, but didn't have the time to get them taken off the rims and leave them with Alan- besides, they are pretty worn, won't hook up on my S10 for pooh and I have been told they have probably gotten old and hard which is why they don't work.
In other words, I didn't want to give you something only to have you curse me for it.
However, I have made a deposit in your traction fund.
Now- get that 3.1 MAP tuning done and we'll talk a turbo sale!

Well Alan I wanted to give you a call, but I left your number at home
and the way the weekend was I wouldn't have had time.
We didn't leave (had the 7mo pregnant wife with me, not too comfy for her in the S10!) until 8pm Friday night by the time I got a U-haul auto trailer, go the car loaded and all. Was 3am by the time we hit the Baymont inn and some sleep.
Anyway I will give you a call next time and hopefully will have more than 5 minutes to hang out with ya in a parking lot!

LOL, that sounds good, Gumby! I'd have a set of slicks on there in no time!
Yeah, I ALMOST had a friend come up from Kissimmee with a set of slicks, but that fell through, too
I'm getting such horrid 60's.
Oh, btw, the intake is untouched, and head heads are more polished than actually ported
I just cleaned up the heads, so it is a basically stock 3.1, with a set of better valve springs, and a slightly better cam (stock 3.4 specs, I believe!)
*edit* Figured I'd show the link to the Make a Traction Donation, it's in the sig!

Oh sweet, then! I was under the impression that the CompuCam 2030 was the same as teh 3.4, and that CompuCam2030 is the same as the MTC-5, only the MTC-5 is ground on a 107/117 LC instead of a 112/112 - They both end up with a 112 LSA.
Also, the MTC-5 is like $100 cheaper
