Mr.Blackburn has started a new top secret project.., or so the rumor is. I can't wait to see what his new project is! Speaking of rumours, he apparently got enough money for the car to buy a house.. a really big house
edit: looking at the web site, it appears to be the same pictures from "popular hot rodding" magazine, Feb 2005?

lol... where did these rumors come from, a house? not likely but it would be nice.

thanks alot everyone for such kind words as it was alot of hard work to get the car where it was but it was worth it and has really paid off. you can't express the feeling of getting a magazine feature let alone the cover when it happens as it's really something that just puts you in awe. to see you guys appreciate the car as much as i did and say such wonderful things it really means alot and i thank you very much!
as far as the magazine goes the pictures are slightly different then what is on the website but for the most part yes it was the same photoshoot for both PHR and gmhightech. it's a long story to really get into it but keeping it short johnny hunkins who use to work for GMhightech parted ways and started at PHR. i had been talking with them for the last two years trying to get this done. as the car progressed johnny agreed to check it out and took me with him to phr. gmhightech loved the photos so much that they worked out a deal and what photos weren't used in the PHR article were sold to gmhightech and a new writer was assigned.
498 photos, 11 hours for the photo shoot, one photographer, two writers, two publications and over 40 people from the club helping out it was a very long process but a fun day. eventually it was alot of pulling strings to get everything finalized but i can't complain a bit as it's been every bit of a dream come true and to have others recognize it and appreciate it just leaves me without words so thank you for that.
as far as the comment about high res pictures. i'm right there with you as i wish i could get ahold of them. due to copyright laws and other little things i had to sign i unfortunately didn't get anything like that and probably won't as they claim i might try and sell them? anyhow if they were available i would put them up but unfortunately the ones on the website are all i can get.
i'm very grateful for the opportunity and i'm glad you guys enjoyed the article, hopefully the next project won't disappoint...

that's great! that's all i've wanted since i bought the car was to get it to a point where people respect thirdgens. there will always be someone out there with something better, faster, lower, etc. i think it's great and i can only hope that it gives people a reason to want to build their cars. that's what it's all about.
i got a letter the other day from one of the editors from phr about a younger guy who was in a bad accident with his iroc. the insurance wouldn't give him anything and although he loved his car he had thought they were becoming extinct with people. he went on to say he read the article my car was featured in and fell in love again. he began work on the car to fix it and had sent in some pictures of his progress.
that's the kind of thing i'm talking about and why it means so much, i say do it...

it's hard that's for sure as the aftermarket is low. peoples overall opinions on the car are not high unless you've owned one and many magazines just don't want to touch them saying many are dated or just aren't built up enough. as i said i had almost 7 years in that car and 5 years of trying to get the magazines interested in the idea. they are finally coming around though slowly but surely so i definately hope it helps others to do what i did as i look forward to seeing more well done thirdgens in the future.

ya not alot of magazines would care for thirdgens...its all about imports, mini trucks or like 50's-70's muscle cars..so it would be hard..or you gotta do something extreme with it..like kandiedz did...or even do more then him to really catch there attention..
so kandied when do we get to see or hear anything about the new project?

Me: "Yea... I know the guy who built it, I've talked to him about the car"

I was gone all weekend and when I came home and pulled that magazine out of the mailbox I was in awe. I love that car and when I had my Z28 its what kept me going with it when everyone else around here put it down I just thought I bet if it looked as nice as Jeffs car they would eat thier words. I have since sold the Z28 in favor for a much faster better looking GTA that will one day, with any luck, look as good as that one and then hopefully gain even more respect for thirdgens as your car did. I cant say enough about that car and I wish you still had it so we could keep looking at it on here, I loved to watch the cars progress over the years and it will be missed for sure. I just hope your next project stays thirdgen because Im sure whatever you do will bring more respect to that type of car as you seem to do great and tasteful work especially when every other car out there is way overdone due to the tuner guys making it seem like the norm and muscle car guys dont get the attention as much anymore.

I just have one question for you mr. blackburn....when you see these features two months or so after you sold the car, do you have that feeling of "what the hell'd i do that for" or want it back?
I'll have you know i have seen tons of pics, the cardomain site is on my bookmarks tab to check for new pics, i have the chp, popular hotrodding, and yet i still went to a pep boys, autozone 2 checkers, 3 7-11's, 2 walgreens a target and a walmart last night at 8:30 when i got off work trying to find an issue to no luck. Its one of those things for example you told me teh grey panel and radiator support i had painted looked cheap and the black outs, i thought about it said yea they do, now i will pm kandied and bounce some of my more exotic ideas off him to kinda get a solid comment whether or not that something that would attract attention or whatever. I take it around and show everyone lik eyea i've talked to that guy!
