c6 rims on third gen
c6 rims on third gen
i was wondering if these would even fit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43958 with no wheel well cut outs or anything? Plus, would i have to buy 2 wheel adapters or 4?

Yes they fit. No beating on anything required.
You will need 4 wheel adapters.
I have 4 2" ones on my car.
I strongly recommend against chrome; besides looking totally out of place at best and at worst kind of ghetto on these cars which have absolutely not the first atom of chrome anywhere on them, chrome plating on aluminum wheels is notorious for causing air leaks. It inevitably flakes off, and air leaks from in between the chrome and the aluminum.
You will likely find you have trouble centering the wheels on the adapters.

Wow I am surprised how fast the aftermarket is to remanufacture these wheels in different sizes. Definitely great clean looking wheels but I think it would look better in polished aluminum then chrome.

heres a pic of corvette rims on a 3rd gen. 2 inch spacers are required.and just my .02 cents here. if you get rims that are too thin they look extremely funny on these cars chrome or not. not that those are too thin but id probly try to photoshop some first. if they are too thin you see too much of the car and it ruins the big rim filling the wheel well effect in my opinion.
oh and there is no motor in this car that why the front is so high, but it will give you an idea.

See i don't think that car looks good period with those rims. I have seen pics of 3rd gens with 18" chrome zr-1's and i think it looks pretty good. 17" chrome c6 in front and 18's in back i think would be the better than 18's all around.

Wow, that car looks REALLY rough. And I though mine was pretty sad. Which is is. Oh well, now I don't feel so bad about it.
Chrome ANYTHING looks like hammered elephant plop on these cars. It looks out of place; like it fell from Mars and just sort of landed there; like somebody stuck it there and it might fall off at any moment; like it doesn't belong; r¡ce. Put a piece of chrome on one of them, odds are, it will be the ONLY piece of chrome on it. About like if you had a car that was all blue, and you stuck ONE yellow piece on it, like a side mirror or something.
Painted ones of those wheels don't look nearly so foreign. Especially if the car has silver trim already.
And, they don't leak near as much.

I thought you wanted an honest opinion? Or do you just want reinforcement for your ideas from others with no practical experience and even less common sense?
Forgive me. It's your fantasy, not mine. Go buy them, and enjoy it while it lasts, before reality intrudes.
In the meantime, I at least gave you more useful information than the people who want to help you spank off about the chrome; I told you what size spacers will work.

yes the car is rough, thats why its my project 86 iroc z28.its number in production is 37 or 39 in 1986, an. the car was special to me b/c it was the first camaro my brother ever bought. give it 3 more months and i bet you will be singing a different tune, just look at my sig thats what the setup thats going in this car is. easily a high 11 or very low 12 second car w/ no cheater fumes. its easy to buy a car and slap on some bunk chrome 18's and call it nice looking. try literally building one from the ground up, this is a frame off restoration on a thirdgen !

As for the C6 wheels, I think they look awesome and if they weren't so expensive, I'd consider a set. I have the 97-99 C5 rims on my car as well (widespoke 17x8.5 and 18x9.5 as pictured above a few times) on my solid black car and they look nice.
Most people prefer to keep the same rim diameter for the front and back on these cars as the body lines weren't really designed to have bigger rims in back than in front. I think it looks pretty good on my car though with 17s in front and 18s in back. I have to lower the front though. I only have my rear lowering springs in still, looks a bit odd.

you can get C6 wheels in 17s for $700 or all 18s for 720. Or a combination of boath. I will even provide you a link

Vlad, I used to live in Memphis.... I was there for a long time, almost 35 years actually.... good luck with the project.
Those wheels aren't really all that expensive; you can pick up a good used set for around $500, if you stay away from chrome.
A friend of mine has a 200 Vette, his car has chrome these wheels on it, 2 of his tires leak... fortunatly it hasn't cost him any tires yet, but he has to put air in them ALOT. Considering that ONE TIRE to fit these is near $200 for the less expensive ones and they go WAY UP from there, I'd think that anything that could damage them, would be a great idea to avoid. But that's just me I guess.... too much common sense, not enough of "easily distracted by shiny things".
IMO the difference in wheel diameter isn't very noticeable; it doesn't clash with the overall appearance of the car anywhere near as much as chrome parts do. But as Duron mentioned, people do often get pairs of fronts or pairs of rears when they swap them, to have 4 that are the same size. Which works fine if you choose a tire size accordingly.
Watch out for the non-factory knock-offs such as you see all the time on ebay. Not all wheels are created equal. Some of them are REALLY CRAPPY. About the last thing you want is 4 pure chinesium wheels that won't balance, won't run true, won't hold air, and otherwise malfunction. I didn't look at that link, but be real careful with "new" repro wheels. And that goes for any repops, not just these.

its hard to tell from the above pick but there are eibach prokit rear lowering springs in there, they havent set yet b/c the pic was taken the day i installed them, need to put the front ones in too. i wouldnt put bigger rims in there w/out lowering the car at least 1 inch. i wanted to get the sportline kit which would drop it further but i got a good sdeal on the prokit.
also living in memphis here if i did put chrome rims on my car id literally look like everyone else.RB83 can probly atest to that. not having chrome rims around here is a statement.

Isn't that the truth!!Plus, if they're not chrome or otherwise "blingin", it helps improve the odds (which are already rather poor at best) that when you walk out to your car in a parking lot, they'll still be on it.
I'm glad I don't live there any more, actually. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten in that way, until I left.

yea my blazer got stolen here last summer, it had c5 vette rims on it like the ones in the pic above. it was found 2 weeks later all shot up literally. then in january my camaro got stolen. it was a real piece of junk too. it had been wrecked and body was in primer and most of the interior was either gone or just in horrible condition. only good piece on the whole car was the factory glass hood.it was so bad off i was letting my brother drive it til it dies then we were just going to leave it lol. the car was never found, suck cause i loved that hood too....well memphis police actually probly never even looked ofr it. if like my entire family didnt live here id have been gone years ago.

I haven't seen ANY pics of CHROME C6 rims here yet...how can anybody say that they will not look good on his car? It is a black 92 and it would look flankin sweet with chomies on it!!!
About chome peelin off....so long as he doesn't get some cheap jappies and he takes care of them, who is to say that they will peel or flake?
Lets let the dude do what he wants and just accept the fact that ghetto ganstas + chromies = happyness!

I can't beleive all this chrome bashing. Well everybody has thier opinion but all i was askin is if they would fit...nothin more...nothin less. Seems like I am the only one here who wants chrome rims or has chrome rims on thier third gen. I was honestly thinking about black zr-1's before i found these but it has to be the chrome. I can understand the rims flaking and all that but it is like your car in general. You don't take care of it...its gonna rust. So can we start bashing people that wanna buy a thirdgen cause over time they will rust.

Problem with chrome wheels, is that the chrome flakes off (like my friends OE Vette wheels I mentioned above) in a place you CAN'T "take care of".... around the sealing bead, underneath the tire. There's NOTHING you can do about it. Steel wheels with chrome are even worse. Chrome wheels are just a stupid thing to do, period, in any form or fashion; but I guess for people who aren't very practical and can't see past the shiny things, that doesn't matter. They buy them anyway.
So, if that's what you want, then like you said, it's your car; but there won't be much we can tell you except say "I told you so" when you come back complaining that you can't keep air in your $800+ set of tires.

While I like chrome, I never knew that it was worse as far as leaking and flaking. Good info.
I personally have the black crosslace TA wheels on my car. If I ever do go to a different rim it will probably be polished aluminum... possibly the polished TA wheels off of the 4th gen cars.
A lot of my friends gave me **** when I replaced my factory formula wheels with the factory TA wheels, mainly because they thought my car would look better with chrome 17s. I stubbornly did it my own way and put the wheels I wanted on the car. Don't regret it either.
