Hmmmm... I still have alot more questions.
Hmmmm... I still have alot more questions.
First of all, I've been searching on old posts and am learning alot bt I have a few more questions for you guy's.
I've been toying with the initial spark advance *distributer setting* and brought it up to 8.01 from 5.98. I changed it back because it screwed something up in throttle response worse than it was before, so I set it back. I'm wondering what I could change to help with this problem? Full throttle is better than the original 305 was but I still ran a best of 15.1 @ 93mph with these mods....

I know I'm forgetting alot of ****.
I've been doing good with my chip burning process but am kind of stumped with this problem because I'm new. I dont have a cable yet so data logging is not an option yet. I'm not getting any codes and replaced every sensor in the car when I did all of the upgrades. I was reading one od tims posts about PE and how it causes some of these symptoms I'm suffering from so here are my questions...
1. How do you adjust the power enrichment for more efficent engines properly? I've noticed it has the option to give or take every 400rpm. By increasing the numbers do what happens?
2. Alot of people say to experiment with my spark table to see what works. Do I change every number in the main spark advance or extended spark advance? Or both?
3. Is there a way to make my knock sensor a little less sensitive with winbin and still be safe?
I have a 1991 Z28 TPI
ECM 1227730
I'm using WINBIN
It just feels like the car is giving up at high rpms.

I can't help you on all the hard questions but I believe I can help you with the scanner issue. Have you heard of Craig Moates program E6? I believe it works with the 730 ECM, although I have never tried. Do a search for Craig Moates and you'll find info on where to find it and how to make a cable. Then all you'll need is a cheap laptop (486 will do) and you'll be much better off. None of these really smart guys are going to be able to answer many of your questions before you can show them some numbers.
What bin are you using? Personally, I'd start with the AUJP.
Did you change the injector constant to match the 30#'s?
Did you change the cylinder size to reflect the increase in displacement?
Fuel pressure steady at WOT?
Have you increased the WOT fuel? Seems like you are way down on fuel.
I'd leave the timing stock or less until you get the fueling issues taken care of.

I dont have any clue what AUJP means.
I also cant find anyplace to change cylinder size in winbin. Do you know where it is?

I plan on using Craigs software for sure. I noticed he wanted more people to try it with 730. I have a new laptop I just dont have my cable yet.

AUJP is the bin for a 92 350 fbody. You can get a copy at diy-efi.org's ftp.
Apparently winbin doesn't have the cylinder size. Tunercat does have it.

Mateo, I don't know if you have found a better ecu file for winbin yet but this one seems to be better than the one that gets downloaded with winbin1.4. http://www.diy-efi.org/gmecm/ecm_info/1227730/ and get the $8d version. It has the correct calculation for inj. flow rate and in lb/hr even. It also has cyl. volume select although you'll have to do some math and it's labeled "speed density calculation". You have to devide the liter displacement of the engine by the number of cylinders and mutiply by 223.157. Or 5.7L/8=.7125 * 223.157= 159 for a 350. Get it and check it out.

thats very interesting.
now by calculateing the liters and placeing them in this address what would the results in real life be on the vehicle? Oh by the way when i calculated the speed density i discovered the $8d ecu is incorrect, no big deal. I found that promedit is a much better at reading the bin files and you can get a better feel of your changes rather than depending on winbins flaky programming. Another note is I discovered for some reason on most bins the address is 6DE not 6DD.
